timing belt problems

well i changed the timing belt and seals anyway driving the car for about an hour then out of nowhere the car started making some wierd noise like tsomething was rubbing or hitting the plastic timing cover so i decided to drive it home on the way i lost all power got it towed home and took it apart, to see that the tensioner broke and the timing belt was loose. so my real question is are the valves bent or not? cause when i got home i tried starting it and it fired up but as soon as it fired up i shut it off. its a 90 tsi fwd turbo?
any help or imput on this would help since i dont want to pull the head off if i dont need to again, maybe get a new tensioner and see what heppans or has this happend to anyone and they now about the valves?
any help is great or suggestions on where to get a new tensioner, it also has the balance shaft removel kit on it?
 
There is a good chance the valves bent. You could try a compression/leakdown check.This should tell you if you have a poss bent valve. As far as where to get parts, dealer is about all I would think.

You will need a crompression tester. Basically... You take out the plugs, disconnect the coil pack, remove the fuel fuse (at the battery) screw the tester into the plug hole and crank about 4 rev's(throttle wide open). check the compression. TURBO MOTOR = min 114psi(800kPa) at each cyl. max difference is 14psi(100kPa) from highest to lowest cyl. If any cyl does not meet that spec then squirt a little oil into that cyl and recheck. If the compression comes up you have a ring problem. If the compression does not come up you have a valve problem, or head gasket. Be sure to not let anything fall into open plug holes while you are working.

For those who are not turbo the N/T specs are.
137psi(960kPa) min with a max diff of 14psi(100kPa)from highest to lowest cyl.

P.S. This info is right out of a Mitsubishi Factory Shop Manual for a 1991 model year.

-I have a tester from SummitRacing, I'm thinking of building a low $ tester just for experiment, you can get all the parts from Harbor Freight store. joint 2 of this regulators together, then put 1 male & 1 female coupler at each end, then get an air hose for the compressor tester.
