Question EVO III 16g Turbo

Hi

I was wondering, if i buy the EVO III 16g, will the turbo both on, just like the Big 16g does on 1g car? Cause it looks almost the same!?!

http://www.slowboyracing.com/Mitsubi...omparison.html

what are the effect of the change we can see on that page? Spoon up bit faster?

thanks for your help

it should bolt right up, but considering you can buy a big 16g with no back housing for $375 brand new.(use your 14b exhaust housing), i doubt the performance increase of the evo8 turbo (if any at all) over the big 16 will justify the increase in cost...HERE

So 14b turbine housing are the same as the stock big 16g turbine housing? should it effect the performance?

I guess the question for us would then be are you doing it to a 1g or 2g?

I know you asked about the bolt up and if it was like the 1g or not, so I am guessing it is a 1g. If not, then you will require a 2g install kit cause YES it does bolt like a 1g setup.

Another thing is Mike at Slowboy is a very helpful person when it comes to DSM questions. If you do indeed have a 2g he can help you figure it out further.

Well, i used a 14b housing, ground away the step, ported it, and ported the wastegate a bit.. and i run 20psi with it with no drop at high rpm, so i dont know of any downside to it..

ah thanks alot guys, it was for my futur Eagle talon tsi ( 6 bolt engine) :P... as soon as i will seel this N/T, so yeah it was for a 1g car.

Alright, then the best thing to do if i wanna upgrade my turbo for a Big 16G w/o turbine housing and then swap my turbine housing from the 14B to the new 16G. After that I should port the turbo, and ported the wastegate.

that will be more ( money cost effective ) right?

yea, and the porting isnt hard, just get ahold of a die grinder and you can probably do it yourself in about 2 hours or less.

OR if you want to go bigger, all those turbos on that page i left the link to bolt up, they just cost more, Im getting the ETE32 later this year. better quality turbo (Garrett) and higher HP possabilities.. but i might sell the spyder and get a 97-99 GSX first...

anyone wanna trade?

HP Ratings?

I just purchased an EVO 16g on Sunday. What kind of hp figures (avg.) can I expect with the following setup?

660's
Translator 3" MAF
255 FP and rewire

It all depends on what kind of PSI you're gonna be running...

I'm looking at 17-18 psi on the street and 20-22 psi at the track. I have a fully built motor.

ETE turbos are ass. Look around. Try searching for Mutt.

The 16g has a 7cm turbine housing, which flows more. The amount of boost you could run would not be affected, merely top end power.

I don't think the housings are the same. The 14b housing will fit but it is smaller.(better spool-less top end)
