free mod restricter mods

I saw a 91 Eagle talon TSi yesterday that had one of the tubes on the Boost Control Solenoid Covered up by a piece of rubber. What is that doing... and is that a good thing?

Yeah i took off that little restrictor in the Boost Solenoid, and didnt notice anybig difference, meaby i just dot know waht to look for?

I pulled out that little restrictor and noticed a big change. I know my stock boost gauge went from about the middle at max boost to almost all the way. I'll see how much I'm really getting once I install my Greddy boost gauge next week. I need to get a MBC soon too.

for your on a gauge.I hooked up my boost gauge today. I got the Ractive EL. looks good with a blue carbon fiber look. the hose that came with it didn't fit the T fitting. So i had to ghettofy it a lil. get a fittin at Discount auto supplies and some zip ties. If u need help installing

I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I'm reading how removing the BCS restrictor raises boost 2-3psi, but I'm kinda wondering if that's actually serving a good purpose and should not be removed?

It was placed there for production purposes. It has no ill affect to your car. I just did this yesterday to my car. The gains are so small it really didn't do anything for me. I am just used to driving fast I guess.

I am not saying it slowed me down at all, it just didn't give me that much more of a gain. I hope this helped you with your decision.

Good Luck

Ok I think I made the mistake of removing the wastegate control solenoid restrictor without any other mods including BOV (this is a 2G). When I drove the car is seemed slower especially in the upper RPM range. What gives? Should I replace the small restrictor?

put it back on for now. since you are still running on the stock bov, all the extra boost is being leaked out and is not making it's way into the engine. the problem here is that the mas has already counted that air and the ecu is injecting fuel to match it. since not all of that air is making it to the motor, you are essentially running rich, which usually makes the car a bit slower. if you get an aftermarket bov you can keep the restrictor out.

The first move you have to make on a 2G is a BOV. 1Gs work just fine, you'll also need an adapter for it or a new UICP with a flange. You'll be startled by the difference. And go no further without a real boost gauge.

I'll put it back in tonight and see what happens. I'll also order that BOV and Boost gauge perform trying again. Thanks.

i am trying to take out the restrictor on the BOOST CONTROL SOLENOID but the vacuum valve is so small. i tried using a needle and small sheet of aluminum but cant seem to get anything out. Any help of how anyone else took out their BCS restrictor is appreciated. Thanks.

screw in a tiny screw until it catches the BCS restrictor and then use the some pliers to gently pull the screw out along with restrictor itself. make sure you pull really carefully so u dont break anything.
