+ How to change automatic transmission fluid & fuel filter

Alright DSM crew, I need a little bit of guidance here.

I have a 97 GS-T automatic and I'm wondering how I change the automatic transmission fluid and where in teh world the fuel filter is located?

You should _really_ get a Haynes manual at least for your car man. For the transmission you've got two drain bolts. Then you drop the pan. Replace the filter. Clean the old gasket off the transmission and the pan. Install the new gasket. Put the pan back on. Refill the transmission through the dipstick hole.

For the fuel filter, you'll see it when you remove the battery box. Keep in mind it's usually a bi*** to change.

I recommend having a transmission shop do a flush on it, so the fluid in the torque convertor gets swapped as well. Having them do an adjustment of the brake bands is also worth the money.

Thanks for the advice. What are brake bands?
