Grove City,
im new to dsm's and cars in general and i want to learn as much as possible. i have a question. what does the throttle body do exactly? now i know you guys are gona laugh but how else am i gona learn. thx

Throttle body, its controlled kinda by your gas pedal because when you floor it or partial it, it moves a plate on the throttle body to the open/semi-open position to where air/fuel can get into the motor itself.

I dont know an ASSLOAD about the certain parts of the motors but another place you might wanna check out is.

Check those out for more help dude. Just remember this 2 simple rules.

ALWAYS KEEP A HAMMER CLOSE! (scare your car)
ALWAYS HAVE FUN MODDING!!!!!! (this is a must!)

Most DSM's are unreliable because the majority of them have been abused over the years. If you buy one today it is most likely to have problems. But no matter how unreliable they are... I will never buy anything else. :talon: :thumb:

im thinking about buying a talon. why you ask because my real name is talon. i know if strange but how cool would it be to drive the same car as you name. plus its a dsm:thumb:

It's the casting that holds the throttle shaft, to which the throttle plate is attached. However, the "throttle body assembly" is also too often called the "throttle body", so I guess we have to live with it.
The throttle regulates how much air an engine can draw in, and is the primary method of engine speed control. Open your mouth, start inhaling, and clap your palm over your mouth. You've been throttled. Put two fingers over your lips, inhale through them and mess with the distance between them. That's what your engine's going through all the time you're driving. Turbocharging would be like putting a vacuum cleaner outlet on your mouth. Biggest trouble is that your lungs have no exhaust system.

ok i get it now. its alot like a carberator. dont know if thats the correct spelling. i just woke up. thx for all you help.
