I was just following some links around from one of the other threads and found this one: http://infinitemotorsports.net/JDM Swaps.0.html that said they had an AWD 220hp turbo 4G63 motor and all accesories for $1700 (obviously not accounting for a few thousand in labor). Now, I'm not even contemplating a swap, but my question is, could this be placed in my '92 Talon ESi? I mean, I know I have read on here that it can be done, but I was under the impression it cost around 5-6 grand. I'm wondering is it only possible to switch the engine with a like engine or if this model engine could replace my 2.0 normally asipirated variant?
Just wondering, thanks.

Don't do it... I know you may be attached to your car, but if you want to have a turbo, sell the ESi and buy a turbo car...

Besides the ungodly amount of money you will spend, you also need a new ECU, all new wiring harnesses, the instrument cluster, and other miscellaneous things... You are looking at a heartache waiting to happen... Sorry....

Also, it would be virtually impossible to make your car all-wheel drive. I forgot, you will need a transmission as well...

This is a quote from the website "All swaps come with the following: Complete Engine Assembly, ECU, Axles, Clutch & Transmission, and All engine accessories (pumps, compressors, alternator etc). All engines come with the following: Complete Engine Assembly, and All engine accessories (pumps, compressors, alternator etc). " Also, the description of the engine and pakage is "90-94 Mitsubishi Eclipse / Eagle Talon JDM Cyclone 4G63 Turbo w/AWD Complete-220hp
Includes: 4G63 Cyclone Engine 2.0L 4 Cylinder Engine, AWD Transmission and Turbocharger
(5spd or Automatic)" so it sounds like it would be covered. However as I was mowing the lawn tonight I got to thinking and remembered I had read somewhere that while the motor is the same, because it is turbocharged it has different mounting points and custom fabricated brackets are required, so it would be a lot of hassle. I had just forgotten about it at the time.

I don't have near enough money right now even if I wanted to do that, and if I did have enough money I could probably sell my car and combine all my money to get a 2g or good running 1g turbo, and that's probably what I would do. But I was just curious.

Thanks, I know you're just lookin out for my better interest.

I've been just been done that road before. I looked in to all those options for my 93 GS. I tried and tried to look for a way to do the turbo, in the end it probably wouldn't have worked and the reliability would go down the drain.... Much much happier with the TSi now... Good luck with whatever you do...

PS I think motor mounts are the same, making it awd is entirely a new story. The rear end is different, you'd need differentials, all that stuff...
