Hello guys, today i purchased a 1997 GST white...AMAZING didn't know what i was missing...and i haven’t even driven it (CAN'T WAIT). With that said here is my problem, I got the car at an auction and there was an electronic key just under the dashboard (drivers knee panel). When the car was delivered to me the key was gone. I know the car starts but with out the key it would not. IS THIS AN AFTER MARKET DEVICE (didn't look like it because it had the relay hidden in an OEM place.. I think). If any one can help me i will be more that grateful and where could i get a replacement chipkey. Also after i get the code for the radio (infinity) what are the buttons that i need to press to enter code? THANKS A MILLION IN ADVANCE!!!

The key could be one of two things. It is either the kill switch for an alarm system of the key for an independant immobiliser. Either way I would say you have problems. If it is for an alarm, check under the hood. You will see a siren lurking under there somewhere (Usually near the battery) If there is no siren then it is probably just an immobiliser. If it is an immobiliser then it is probably either a 2 or 3 circuit jobbie. You either need to get an alarm specialist to come to the car to take a look. Or sometimes AAA can bypass the system for you to drive it to a specialist. Or If you can find out who made it, call them and they will be able to do something.

For the stereo, I think you just enter the numbers and then hit "5" when you have entered the 4 numbers. Not sure though.

shouldn't this be in tech??
imo this is gotta be some sort of alarm/security device, so if you were to have it removed, the car should start....
good luck.

i think your missing the bypass... check into that... but if not... you can always rip appart anything that looks like a bypass and hotwire ur car!! kudos and congrats!!! yah!! but anyways i think its bypass or an old security system... i.e. if it had a oem alarm it wont run if disabled.... but u can connect a couple of wires and disc the sound and the power and it will still run fine... :) good luck

the easiest way to remove it is just follow the wires, usually they cut into the "hot" wire to the ignition just remove that stupid thing and wire your car back together. because if you break it some of those have "dummy" wires in the harness that arent connected to anything just to fool a car thief. so if you break it open and it doesnt work take it off.
