So i've been having fitment issues with my exhaust for a couple day now. I gave up on it and moved on to other parts in my car in the mean time. I have the 3" down pipe and the catback. On the catback install i am having fitment issues with a couple of the hangers. The second pipe that is given with the catback that has one hanger bar, (its the straight pipe that had the O2 bung on it) is giving me issues. The hanger is on the left (passenger side) and the rod for the hanger thats on the pipe is on the drivers side. So if i hook it in this way it pulls my exhaust too far the drive shaft and actually makes another peice with a hanger rub my drive shaft. Does anyone here that installed a 3" megan catback on there 2g gsx car know if i'm missing something?

Pic 1 will show the pipe with the hanger thats not right, which i believe is whats giving me grief.

Pic 2 will show how far over the exhaust is sitting now because of the hanger.

Pic 3 will show just how far off the hanger is when the exhaust is sitting in it and how much its tensioned because of wrong placemnet.

Pic 4 will show the short conncection piece with double hangers to conncect the down pipe to the catback that will be rubbing the drive shaft because of the straight O2 bung pipe isn't sitting properly.

Pic 5 shows the double hanger conncection pipe rubing the drive shaft.

The Megan catback system offers a GST and GSX version.

Are you sure you have teh GSX version?

Honestly the best route is custom piping. Spend the money on a downpipe and quality muffler and have a muffler shop weld in custom piping. Got mine done for 150$ in 1 hour and havent had to think about it since.

I'm pretty sure its the gsxsystem i got. I looked at the gst and its got alot more bends to it. Please if you could have a look at your system and possibly take pics, would be awesome. I would appreciate that :)

if you could take more pics of the exhaust from the rear that would be good. it also maybe looks like that mid pipe may be bolted on upside down, but i cant see the bend after that to see if it continues towards the drivers side. i have a megan on my 97 gsx and had no issues at all, except rusty stock bolts.

He's right, you have that piece upside down. Flip it over and slip it through the hangers first and then bolt to the exhaust. I had the same issue when i did my install years ago.

If i flip the adapter with the doube hangers it will rub more against my drive shaft and not solve the second section of the exhaust with the O2 bung. If i rotate it, the down pipes flange won't meet up as the small conncetion pipes flange has a slight angle on it and will be going even more into my drive shaft

Can anyone wih this exhaust take a picture of the exhast hangers etc. I sent these pics to megan racing and even their guys are like  This licks pony meat. I'm getting fustrated.

If anyone can take pictures try to get a pic of the single exhaust hanger for the long O2 bung pipe please (same hanger as in my 3rd pic), I would greatly appreciate it.

I didn't have a jack or jack stands to get under neath the car tonight. but this is what i was able to snap. I received two middle adapter pipes with my exhaust. the one I mounted is pretty much straight. The one I didn't use you can see below.

Thanks for the help guys! So i solved the catback exhaust issue. It was the one single hanger that was the issue. I just unbolted it and turned it around 180 degree's and it fixed my catback issue. everything fits good.... Until i try fitting my down pipe now. So i got the megan racing 3" dp that was the latest revision. My problem is that its too long. It comes in two pieces and the the downpipe with the flex pipe that comes off the O2 housing fits fine. Besides the one mount tab by the O2 housing flange i had to grind because it was about a 1/4" off. The hanger for the down pipe sits in the right position. So i believe the second peice of the exhaust that slides onto the downpipe seems to be about 2-1/2" too long. and thats what is giving me the problem with fitment issue now. I fully slide the two down pipe pieces together when it was off the car and marked it with a felt pen to ensure i had the exhaust pushed as deep as it could go into the other pipe.

Oh and the gasket they supplied for the o2 housing to down pipe doesint fit over the stock O2 housing studs. I have to modify that now too. Any ideas how to do that? I went at it with a screw driver and pressed through it but it doesn't look to great LOL.
