So my car is in the shop right now getting a new short block put in. So in the mean time i thought id try to figure out my other issues. So to start this out, car has a brand new stock OEM tranny and clutch w/ 6k on both of them, but it will occasionally grind into 3rd about once every time i drive it. All gears have a normal amount of play with the shift lever except 3rd which is very tight and this is the only gear i grind in. Its only when shifting 2nd to 3rd, never happens from 4th to 3rd. If im really careful it wont grind, or if i go close to 5th(i guess neutral, but to the right a little) and then go into 3rd from there, it never has any issues. Could is be a issue with a cable or something of that sort? Really dont believe it would be a synchro with such a new tranny. Previous owner also took me for a drive and never "grind-ed" it once, so either he got use to shifting awkwardly or i cant shift worth a shit LOL. But i will say as the days went past i seemed to grind less and less. Does something just need a little adjusting? If so some direction would be great.
Thanks, :thumb:

I had to make a adjustment to the clutch pedal rod. I put in a new clutch and couldnt get the car to shift into 3rd without grinding. I went through the steps of adjusting the shifter ( which helped ) but it turned out to be the rod on the clutch pedal. This happens with a upgraded act clutch it sounds like. I would suggest you take the seat out to do this as its real tight to make the adjustment. There are instructions ( I dont have handy ) that are easy to google or on this site that have instructions. I blew 2 transmissions at the track ( well my team did ) broken shift lever into 3rd. I then put in a 3rd trans with the same thing and the adjustment helped a lot that Im talking about.

Check the play on the shift levers at the transmission. You can replace with aftermarket bushings for fairly cheap.

Possible the shift fork could be bent? unless that was replaced with the trans.

Thanks for the feed back, hopefully will see within a few weeks once its back up and running LOL
