Well my title sums it up. Anyway, I'm new to tuning DSMs and helped a buddy recently with a hoopty of a Talon TSi he bought. (its actually a decently clean car but has been hacked but some questionable characters in the past).
It's a 96 Talon TSI with a 98 GST blackbox.
I've tuned Subarus with ECU Flash before (and many a carbureted, naturally aspirated V8), but we have quite a few more tables, and the names make sense to me. Why are there three high octane timing tables in his ECU for instance? What indicates what timing table the ECU is referencing?
Is there a guide anywhere that defines the tables? Of course when I google "Define DSM tables ECU flash" I get information regarding the ECU definition and ability to reference it. I literally want a definition, such as "High Octane Fuel Big Map is used when no knock is sensed and the car is running at above 100 degrees F" or whatever things determine its use so that I know what the effect is.
That brings me to my next quation, what the hell is Ceddymods? I found a lot of info on where to get it and I understand its providing more ECU definitions, but what are they? I never installed it, yet it is an option/available in ECU Flash when I look at his rom image.
Some things do not show with logical values. Do I need to change formatting? Is this because I don't have the "Ceddymods" definitions? (I have the ecu flash definitions that work fine with my Subies ecu). These are in locations such as "ECU periphery." What the hell is ECU periphery?
To make issues more complicated, it looks like this ECU has been tuned before. Does anyone have a stock ECU file that I can compare to?
I heard you guys were the dopest and most crump pimps in the DSM world. Sorry for posting tuning questions here, but I need 30 posts to post in the tuning section. Thats almost as confusing as all of this EPROM, Non-Eprom, socketed ECU, blackbox ECU, Gen 1 and 2, GM MAF conversion crap you guys are all dealing with already.
Thanks in advance guys
