Low ATF symptoms?

1G TSi AWD AT. Full line pressure/manual shift mod.

Trans has been slipping/popping out of gear recently.

1st to 2nd shift while cornering, if I try to shift over 3500 it will engage 2nd, slip out of second into Neutral, and revs will climb until I let off the gas, upon which it will fully engage second and drive normally.

1st and 2nd, it will intermittently slide out of gear into Neutral when trying to take off at low speeds, then catch gear again.

Car not up to operating temp, sometimes on a 2nd to 3rd shift it will bog upon entering 3rd. Feels like you are downshifting instead of upshifting.

Trans had a fresh fluid fill and filter around 10,000 miles ago, but symptoms sound like it is low on fluid? Or does it sound like internal damage?

You said you changed your fluid 10k miles ago....how did it look then? Any metal spakles? Was it burnt smelling or dark colored?

Only thing to do now is check the fluid level on the dipstick when the car is warmed up and in Neutral. If its full, then I would say your tranny is toast.....same thing happened to me, except I only had 3rd gear most of the time and it slipped all over the place and whatnot.

Had to replace the trans.

The car was bought as a roller with no trans and rebuilt so long ago I don't remember. Let me check the fluid level and color after work today and I'll report back.

If the fluid level is low than the transmission will slip in and out of gear and you risk damaging the transmission.

I did a trans fluid change and was short a quart and that happened to me as well, But I still every so often if I shift to fast, for example if I am going to cruis at 35 mph, I will shift from second to third (i usually roll out of second unless I need speed, my car shift to hard from 1st to 2nd) and shift out of third almost as soon as I get it, when I do it to fast my trans will go into neutral and rev up, then when I take my foot off the gas in goes into fourth and I can continue normally. It just may be a side effect of shifting to fast. Im unsure. My fluid was changed right before last winter.

Added some ATF, shifting fine now except for some slipping when hard cornering and hard acceleration. I will check the level again today and work on fixing any leaks. Thanks everyone!
