Which nut are you talking about? 95% of the time, if the bolt has an 8mm shaft, it is a 8 x 1.25 nut, 10mm shaft, 10 x 1.25, and 12 x 1.25. You should be able to find them at your local hardware store with the rest of the metric hardware.

What size head does it have?

I have no idea what you just asked...alll I know its the upper shaft nuts that needs to be replaced.

Also, a gold ring fell with teeth fell off from there...do o just put it back on because nothing is reall holding it down.

Are you familiar with how metric nuts and bolts work? Lets say the shaft is 10mm across. It can be 10 x 1.5 or 10 x 1.25. The second number refers to the size between threads.

I'm not really sure what nut you are talking about? is it in the engine bay or in the center console?

I think he means the 36mm nut on the end of the tranny intermediate and input shafts (he removed the tranny end cover). It's a special nut you must get from Mitsubushi part #MD731948: Mitsubishi Parts - Mitsubishi Parts | OEM Mitsubishi Parts | Genuine Mitsubishi Parts. And it must be torqued to 109 ft.lbs (150Nm) by holding the shafts a special way.
Is the gold ring you mentioned the wave spring?

I think the gold ring he is referring to is the blocker ring. In which case yes just put it back in place. Also I have never heard of that nut cracking.

Their Is a key spring below the 5th gear hub as well. I am assuming you shifted the car with the end cover and blocker ring out to have them pop out. Try to squeeze them back in but make sure you get the spring locked in right. The dimple in the spring will lock into the back of one of the keys. Then the Top Key spring goes on then the blocker ring

Yes, they should have some play. Most of which is in towards the center of the hub. Put the key spring back in and im sure it will tighten things up.

You already have the nut off. Why would it be a pain? It's just a spring pin in the fork and the hub is off if you need to take it off.

There are 2 synchro springs holding the keys. There is also a wave spring on the end cover. See my thread for details. Contact Jack at Jacks Trans and he'll set you up with what you need.
