Hi everyone im new to the dsm forums, not only am i new but i recently traded my car for a 96 eclipse gst, also my first, what i noticed right away was that i had very poor acceleration kind of like i was pulling a train, after a week i stalled out in the middle of the road and had to push it back home. i tryed turning it on a couple days later while it just sat there in the parking spot but it would crank but not turn over, i replaced the 02 sensor, knock sensor, spark plugs, wires, and also the battery terminals cause they were bad, i also took off the gas cap and had someone turn it not all the way on while i listened but i didnt hear nothing , maybe a bad fuel pump? or clogged fuel filter????, ive also noticed a large number of vaccum hoses with nothing on them (vacuum leak?)
 
well i just found out my TPS, MAP, and Rear o2 Sensor is out, can that cause a car not to start and or act in a way of releasing too much fuel?
 
i also took off the gas cap and had someone turn it not all the way on while i listened but i didnt hear nothing , maybe a bad fuel pump?
Just for your info: On 95-99 turbo models and all 90-94 models, the fuel pump only runs while engine is turning (giving CAS signals). So just having the key on but engine not turning will not run the fuel pump.
 
yeah i just found that out, thanks, the fuel pump is working its just sensor issues as of right now, tps,map,rear o2 sensor
 
Change new maf sensor. Buy a new one try it if no start return it. Check timing, check compression, last check to see if the cam angle sensor is on correctly and is working properly.
 
the check engine light is on, but i think its becuase of the catalytic converters i got them takin out, but i keep getting the tps,map,rear o2 sensor codes, so im gonna replace those cause i get, slow acceleration rough idles and stalling

actually i just talked to a friend of mine thats been working on dsm for a while, im going to check the cylinders for spark, also check if im getting fuel,
 
okay guys so, im going to go threw every single little detail cause im not able to fix it, and its depressing that my car has been sitting in the same spot for about almost a month without budging, first of all i checked the compression and its very low no i didnt use a tester but i used my hands on the cylinders, its very weak, also i bought champion spark plugs instead of NGK, i know im an idiot, im getting fuel to all 4 cylinders but recently noticed when i tryed using the champion spark plug i got no spark? is it becuase its champion???? well ill find out tommorow when i switch them for NGK, also my timing could be off, and i also checked my cam angle sensor and it is fine, so whatever you guys can give me for tips, or help please post it!!!! i need it :(
 
Please take no offence but to further help you we need to know what is your knowledge/experience with car engines?

What engine mods do you have or is it completely stock?

All internal combustion engines need 3 things to run: proper compression, proper spark, and proper fuel/air mixture. Compression must be measured with a compression gauge (with throttle held wide open) so we know the actual reading. Sorry but using your hands on the cylinders is useless. So buy or borrow one. Use the copper NGK BPR6ES spark plugs (and not Iridum or platinum) - these engines like these the best (and we are talking 2 decades of experience here). Using the compatible Champions is not why you are not getting spark however. For spark tests do these: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...art-no-fuel-prime-no-spark.html#post151265626.

Also when you say you checked something (eg. cam angle sensor or fuses), state how you checked them and with what. Example: You can't check a fuse by just looking at it.
 
ok guys i got some info, i have little to no experience with engines or cars dealing with Eclipses, i just got this car and im trying to make it run, i ran the compression test on all 4 cylinders and im getting 60lbs/psi that is very weak im guessing that is what everyone is telling me, my cam angle sensor is spliced in with this wiring harness so it does not have a plug, so im ruling out thats why im not getting spark, also one of my ignition coils are out, other than that i dont know what to do about the compression but i can replace the ignition coil and cam angle sensor,
 
Yea 60lbs is pretty darn low. but if you got no spark at all id deff look into cam angle and that tps u said was bad thatd ###### clear up some of the sluggish accel u talked about. Id also check timing if u even expect it, its easy enough to do. have you tried ether to see if youre getting any spark? if it fires at all or acts like its jus got weak spark then id look into a new coil.
 
if im getting 60lbs of compression from each cylinder would that be enough to turn the car on if i have spark/fuel????
 
Barely but not enough to do much else. Low compression is your most important problem. Don't waste time or money on other things yet until you get this resolved (as you may have to do a major rebuild or get another engine).
 
first do a leak down test. this will tell you where is the problem. 60 is no good at all. i had a head rebuilt and after 2 months it showed 90psi on one i almost puke. a bad idle usually means tps, timing or iac motor. pretty expensive. like stated above rebuilt the motor first. most important thing. after you have good compression and timing is dead on than go from there.
 
okay guys so i went downstairs the other day to check on my car and do a couple tests before i really know whats going on so heres what i got

Im getting fuel to all 4 cylinders
im getting compression to all 4 cylinders, i dont know how but im getting 180 on all cylinders now?!?!?!?
THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE NOW IS spark -.- i checked my power transiter unit and it wasnt even grounded it was just handing around so is that the reason why no spark? also BRAND NEW ignition coils,

im going to post some photos tommorow or possibly in a bit to show u guys what im talking about
 
Hate to chime in especially since i am sure this has already been checked but just to rule out, make sure the crank sensor is good and this is the important part.... MAKE SURE THE CRANK SENSOR IS ON RIGHT SIDE UP !!!! LOL when i replaced my crank sensor on a 96 talon tsi 4g63t it was able to go on flipped meaning the side that was suppose to be facing the engine was facing out... and that made me just be able to turn the engine over all day but absolutely no spark what so ever.. once i flipped it over the car started up with half a crank... good luck. keep us posted.

HOLY COW!!! 60 psi? Dude.... I though 150 was on the low side, suddenly I don't feel so bad. You need to stop everything you are doing, buy the haynes manual from advance auto and do your research. From everything you have been saying, you have no clue when it comes to boosted cars. Please do research, leakdown, then boost leak.
