ANOTHER problem> Transmission this time

OK, so i just cant put enough $ into this god damned car. Just pulling out and i didnt quite clear the edge of my driveway. So it hit about a 4" drop on the drivers side. Nothing bottomed out but i immediately heard just a grinding and no gears would engage. Seems like clutch is working its just grinding.
Heres my prayer: im fn praying that somehow a halfshaft popped out or a cv joint separated and since its not LSD it wont move now. Am i just wishful thinking or did my tranny grenade on the spot? I wasnt even on the gas really.
FML, this car is swallowing up time and $ at a high rate. I rebuild the engine, twice, but maybe i should have spent an extra grand and rebuilt tranny. It feels and shifts great though.

stopped raining so i jacked it up. Outer cv boot is all stretched out. The shaft doesnt move when i rotate the wheel. Problem solved. Another 150$?? who knows. It has new Lower control arms too. They are perfectly intact. This is weird.

DSM's are a money pit, somehow i have 12 thou in mine and it doesn't run hah! I know the feeling but when its running, its worth it.

Unless your going to upgrade the trans i wouldn't bother rebuilding it. They aren't strong enough to waste money on a stock rebuild.

Tell me about it. Over 10k in now. Still needs a good paint job and a couple small dings fixed on the body. Changing this is gonna be a whore too. Ive never met a dsm that gave up a half shaft. They get welded to the hub. I wonder is there any special tool to pop the cv from the hub? Those splines are 15yrs old lol

Yea im going to soak it in pb blaster overnight then take the sledge to it. I know how to get the tranny side out, thats the easy part. Getting the wheel hub side out is tough. Since im not reinstalling it i can pound the shit outta it with a full size sledge, that SHOULD break it loose. Ive seen them be locked in there pretty bad though.

thats for sure true but its amazing what a little bit of heat can do, so just in case, before you go beating it take a blow torch and warm everything

Thanks. I popped the outer cv spline out or the cup(not the wheel hub) and found the problem. Im going to take a pic of this shit lmao. The bearing cup with the 3 bearings and splined inner part?, yea..... thats sitting at about a 45* angle in the cup!! I cant believe how this even happened. Not sure but im putting a new one in tonight. It is a stock unit thats 15 yrs old w 200k on it from what i can tell. And im only running 13psi but im on a pretty good setup, i wouldnt be surprised if im putting down 250 to the wheels with thsi big pte

Ok, it took a total of 30 mins to swap shafts and put everything back together. Even put the tools up! A little tip: If you do this go ahead and cut bother inner and outer boots and separate them. Pry the saybar link away from the coil over (bracket)? and then you can slide the new one in. Only had to remove the nut on the balljoint for the straight lower control arm. Easy as pie. Now taking bets on what will break next... lol

I'm betting that the next thing will be the front wheel hubs. Lol

oooooooooo, nice guess, the winning answer is......... Radiator, yes radiator folks. OEM radiator exploding to be exact. The upper neck thats built out of some composite material ruptured 2 days ago after a 20 miles drive. Luckily i just parked it and heard the "pop" and "hiss". I swear im so used to shit breaking i didnt even cuss, just went in, sat down at the desk and clicked " buy it now" on ebay lol.
over 300 bucks a month. These cars, i tell ya, pure maintenance
