just wonderin if yall know whats up i just did the notorious valve cover gasket on my car and thats it.......now since its back together and cured as soon as it hits full boost it stutters and it really doesnt even hit full boost once it goes over like 6 lbs it starts sputtering and doesnt pull....anybody know whats up thanks

It does not sound like a boost leak. Review something here. Car was running fine, you just messed with something, now it doesn't. The only thing you did was remove spark plug wires. Start there. One or more of them isn't seated or is possibly bad. It would be a heavy coincidence to have a bad wire now unless you damaged one in the process of removing them. I have owned some sets that click so positively on the spark plug you could not get them off without damaging the wire. If you have a damaged wire sometimes it's difficult to spot. If you look at the boot sometimes you find a small white/grey dot. This is a hole where spark has bled through. Put a piece of electrical tape over it and try again. This is NOT a permanent fix but merely a diagnostic item that shows you if that is your problem. If you find any dots you still need new wires.

By the way that process works for any piece of machinery.
1. Machine was working fine.
2. I fixed something
3. Now it doesn't work.
4. Start with what you just touched.

hahaha i like that LOL....um yeah im gunna check the plugs and stuff.... see what happens but when i pulled the plugs off one of the boots at the very bottom came apart. so we shall see

Well went through all plugs and wires and no holes no white marks no nuthin and all the plugs are brand new.......got the turbo expert comin tom. to help me out.....hopefully its nuthin too serious

well all plugs are good to go and i misread my guage it builds to about 11psi still not where it was at LOL.....goin to do vacuum and boost checks tom. hopefully we shall see but until then im at a standstill

Well the 2 plugs closest to the passenger side were soaked in oil so i just changed the plugs and still doin the same thing....im guessin it has to be a boost leak somewhere but i shall find out tonight when my turbo guy comes in
thanks for all your input will keep you posted on what it ended up bein

ok did some checkin and my bov wasnt even really on it just pulled right off......so got it sealed up and goin to be able to test it tom.

Hahahaha, my wife would love that comment right there.

Your BOV was just sitting there? Arn't there 2 bolts holding it down?

Well thats one big boost leak right there. Keep looking.

Good question. This is a 1g you are working on right? 1g BOV's are metal have have two bolts holding them on while the 2g BOV's are plastic and are sealed with a hose clamp.

um yeah mine has two bolts but I also have aftermarket FMIC, and a turbo xs bov but yeah i did fix it and its good and sealed now but still havin the same problem.....have no idea what it could be

If your plugs are covered in oil, then you may have worn seals. Have you done a compression test on the engine itself?

After you sealed the BOV, did you do another boost leak test? Were there anymore leaks?

Boost leaks after removing the valve cover are often (if not usually) bad PCV check valves. Shall we create a pool for when the dip-stick hits the hood?

well found out what it was and wow i just need to start double and triple checking all my intake connections......the one closest to my throttle body was loose. but were good to go now....just put the symborski kit in today and i love it

You are very welcome! That is the beauty of this site! Watch and learn how your guy tunes it. Once you get the hang of it you will be able to tune it yourself. We also have a log file advice section where you can post a log and members will review it and offer suggestions. :thumb:
