Well, last week seemed to be running great. This week the fuel pressure rises to about 50 psi and drips back to base (43psi). I ran the pump with the car off for a little while moving the pressure up and down and it pushes and holds 80 psi like a champ. But that's with the car off.
Could this be a regulator issue? Maybe the pump is bad? It sounds like it cavitating but I lowered the pump to the ground and its still making these noises. Pump is Bosch 044

Also took the pump and fuel filter out and cleaned it, then I moved the fuel filter pre pump. It's 40 Microns should i put it back post pump? Pump and filter have less then 30 miles but are 2 years old+
Forgot to mention Aeromotive AFPR
Update, still have 0 views on my topic and i am kind of talking to myself. But if you are finding this in a search. do not use a 40 micron filter BEFORE the pump. i am not sure what micron is acceptable but it only worsened my situation.
For diagnostic i went to home depot and bought clear hose and put some fittings on it. to see exactly what was going on, was i sucking in dirt and rust? air?
well right after install

Then after a drive (still dropping fuel pressure but not on the first pull?)

So i removed the filter and this is what i see

(had fan on in backround sorry)
so the pump IS cavitating. is my sump welded incorrectly? i had it done. is there something that NEEDS to be done when adding a sump that may not have been? is it my pump? changing the position of the pump doesn't change anything (in my garage at least) and i'm hungry as hell right now , but also smell like i went swimming in a lake of gasoline.
i am technically back at square one, except i have no fuel filter at all in my system, and i have a clear hose
i may just end up buying a surge tank and rigging a stock fuel pump for it somehow.
any suggestions?
