What's up everyone, I tried searching for this issue and I'm just stumped. This is my first DSM after years of researching them. Basically here is my issue. I bought a 92 TSI AWD from a buddy and it had a blown water pump.
So after throwing in a new water pump, timing belt, all pullies... I put it back together and go to start it. After a few cranks a realize I smell gas and see a puddle under the gas tank. Easy fix, just tighten the clamp on the rubber hose to the hard gas line. Done. Go to restart the car and no fuel.
So now I just think it needs some fresh gas. So pump out the old gas (Approx. 2 months old) And throw in some fresh premium. Okay still no fuel. I have spark on all 4 cylinders, and the fuel pump is not turning on. This is where it gets fun !
We run a hot wire from the battery to the fuel pump, kicks on and pumps fine. When I go to start the car with the hot wire still running the power, it won't start up. It just cranks. So we disconnect the wire and tackle the CAS. When we rotate it a little bit you can hear clicking on the injectors. So that seems to be good. I'm not understanding from when I first tried to start the car and I had my initial leak it was obviously working fine, but now it is not.
I've read many threads on this problem and they seem to go dead and there is never a real solution to the issue. I have always wanted a DSM and after alot of hard work allready I'm heart broken it won't start. I have seen people on other threads waste money on relays, ECU's, CAS's, fuel pumps, ect... I'm at a lost and could really use some help from someone who has resolved this issue. Like I said I've always wanted one and really lost right now. Any help is always appreciated, thanks guys.
