Quick answer is yes as ECMLink is a chip you would insert where the stock EPROM chip would be.

You do NOT have to have an Eprom ECU neccesarily to now run ECMlink. If you refer to the link I posted, you will now see that they do conversions. I think what he wants to know, is can he use his current ECU (which may not be Eprom) which the answer would be YES. But he will need to get it converted...to Eprom. So yes, you would need to have an Eprom ECU at the end of the day one way or another to run ECMlink.

DSMlink uses the same socket for the chips for EPROMs and old school TMO chips correct?
I'm looking at a local 92 ECU and the link chip looks just like my EPROM.

Thanks for any of this random info anyone can give.

Yes.

I'm really surprised that you weren't able to deduce the answer from the 100's of threads that exist on the topic or from a few mins browsing the link in the second post.

Thank you Steve! I did try, and have actually been searching this site through google on my phone. I clicked the link, but must have overlooked it. I do apologize, as I am also one to harp on the search feature. Have a great day!
