Hey, I'm looking ideas as in where and how to mount my battery in the trunk. I want to keep it in the back passenger corner, but I want to see how others mounted theirs and if they made a bracket or anything.

The catch is it must take up as little space as possible, be NHRA legal, and have all interior pieces intact.

Also looking for ideas as to where you mounted your amp for a sub. My first DSM had it on the back of the rear seat but that doesn't work to well for me because I need to fold down my seats when taking my hockey equipment along with me.

Thanks! :)

I am actually doing my RE install tomorrow, pick up my wood for my new template. I am posting pics tomorrow of it, check out my blog it will be titled Winter Build #4.

I am putting in a custom trunk panel with a door built in to access my battery below. I am also fabbing up my own bracket and brace for it. I dont think i will be able to fully finish it tomorrow, but we will see. It will be pretty nice when fully done.

And i hear ya on the hockey equipment.... i play college hockey here in Michigan

I just got some 0/1 AWG wire, a moroso battery box and ran the cable through the pass side wire channel under the scuff plate. The connector I used was a 150 Amp resettable circuit breaker with 1/4 in studs. One end connected to all the crap from the fuse box in the engine bay, the other end was to the + batt cable.

well after running the wire to the back i bough a bracket and tie down from kragen for like 15.00 bucks and that held my optima perfectly in the corner just had to grind inside tie down bolt to compensate for the collapse wall. and a tinny cut into the plastic molding in the front right side facing the wheel.

but since i like keeping my cars clean and not looking to bulky later when i made my sub box i build a cover for it this was the end result. idk if it helps but i tryed LOL:hellyeah:

This pic is almost 4 years old, but this is the only one I have. This is the Taylor battery box kit with 2-gauge wire. Completely NHRA and IHRA legal when used with a disconnect switch.

^^^ Spawn got any more pictures you can share?

Looks like you did EXACTLY what i am planning. I am leaving my rear buckets in (the rear bottom seat portion) but taken off the top. I am then doing my rear panel like mentioned above and will be black carpet. As well as the rest of the car interior except seats.

these are the pics i have right now i can take on of the actual battery later on in the week. but on the last pic you can see how i mad a door on the side to still access my stock jack and tools. also i build a board in the inner wall since i decided to take my seats out but two screws the board goes out and seats go back in.:thumb:

Looks great man, also looks like a lot of weight. I am trying to lighten things up or i would do it that way.

How did you work around the stock tire holder and windshield fluid tub?

Oh and i just hit over 800 Posts! WOOT!

one hell of a box but how hard dose that sub hit in the hatch ? i always heard they hit harder but ive never had a hatch with a sub yet**..
well i build it to the specs of the sub im running and its hits very nice at least for my taste and on a meter ive been able to out perform two twelves and was 3 dbs behind a 15 LOL:rocks:

spawn....thats a nice setup...
thanx bro.

well since i got rid of the back seats, belt assembly, and spare im actually still lighter by like 40lbs. than stock... well if you c on the pictures i actually put a second chamber for the sub towards the front past the tire holder and shaved a lil bit of the inside of box so sub fits nicely. i want to try working with fiber glass to at least replace the bottom part of box because i want to leave top strong in case i put anything back there.

and i know it sounds dumb but the car feels like its handles on turns nicer since i put all the back weight towards the very back end as possible so my back tires get more grip kinda like the Porsche affect.

I like your setup Spawn, but I need my amp to stay in the car out of the way and have the subs where I can easily remove them.

I was thinking of building a bracket off the back of the trunk with the bolts coming through the plastic interior pieces.

By easily remove it, I mean I'll have a sub box loose in the trunk so I just undo the wiring and take the box out.

o ok i get you well nothing is bolting my box down to take out its just fold side door take tower brace off and you can pull her out shes only 40lbs or so, so its easy but perhaps you want something quicker... i did have another box i bould but didnt feel gave the quality of base as much as this one if i can find pics ill post them it was a two peace.
just need a board screws and the tools and its yours LOL.

Got the board cut today, all i need now is to add a door hinge (wont fit fully when you lay it down, simply ### of the angles. I have cut it perfect to size, it just wont fit in the pockets on each side. So i think im making a little CUBBY for it now on the side)

it will help greatly if you make the sides into flapps if you notice some of the boxes they sell just for 2g dsms come like that for easy install.

i used that idea to turn on into a secret door and the other i got rid of for my battery.

Yea i saw yours and thats what i thought. My batter is underneath so i think im going to make a storage box kinda. So i can put my bag of tools and other misc.

Broke the blade on my saw when fixing some cuts, so wiill be finishing it tomorrow. That is if i give up on the damn turbo and coolant leak.
