Has anyone successfully used either of these to data log?
I happened upon a safc ii black edition for $100 so I decided to go that route and get something to log with so i've been looking at some different options
everyone always talks about the pocketlogger/palm set up And I've heard a lot about tunerstein/pc and the openport cable/evoscan type deal
then I got to thinking hey my 32g iPod touch 3rd gen is essentially a palm with extra features so why wouldn't someone apply that to tuning/logging ( most people would agree having to keep track of the least devices the better Its lame enough carryig a cell and an iPod around Rather not add a palm to the mix )
so after googling it I came up with a few apps and such that claim to do just that!
Paired up with a goLINK cable or one of those special kiwi wifi obd ii dongles ( and I think today they might have released a Bluetooth version?) and you can apparently monitor AND log a whole slew of parameters or metrics or whatever they're called.
I don't have the list in front of me But I spent most of my time looking at "Rev" being that it had the flashiest design work and was the more expensive ($40 in the iTunes app store) I figured if any of them had what was needed it'd be this one.
It claims to monitor and even datalog a number of thing including
rpm
fuel trim
a/f
idc
and a bunch of others
it also claims to estimate wheel hp/ torque and will also log g forces and acceleration and 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times and even plot trips via gps ( I assume this is iPhone only) with all your data ( this might be cool for autocross people so u can see the forces you'd be dealng with on different turns and stuff)
my big hesitation is I'm completely new to the world of tuning so I just wantto make sure it's going to be able to log everything I need to accurately tune my setup. I didn't see knock count listed on the info on any of them.
So has anyone used this to do a tune? Or know of anything for android os that does the same thing? Or maybe someone with experience in tuning if they're bored would wanna go check it out and let me know your thoughts on if it would work or not.
Cost for an itouch/iPhone + dongle + software is obviously way more than the pocketlogger or even link forthat matter BUT for those of us who already own an itouch/phone it's about the same price and much more convenient sounding ha
thanks for any feedback!
Ps I already do plan on getting a wideband o2... Just so we avoid the wonderfully helpful posts regarding that ;]
