420A Need some help with my Talon!

I have a 1997 Eagle Talon. It's the base model with a 420a in it. My engine is blown up and I don't know what to do. I'm only 16 so i don't have much money. Should I save up for a 420a or should I get a 4g63t. If I did get a engine and it's turbo what would I have to do to the car to make it fit good and run.

After I buy the engine how much do you think I'm looking to spend to install it and get the car running like new. If you can help thanks a lot.
 
There are billions maybe trillions of threads on 420a to 4g63 swaps. And they all end the same way, it's cheaper to buy a GST or GSX that already has the 4g in it than try to swap on in a 420a car. The turbo motor is flipped 180 degrees so you would have to custom fab motor mounts and yeah being 16 with not much money its kind of a dive. You would be better off trying to fix your motor or find another running 420a
 
Okay, I'm 16 too, so I will tell you what I would do.

If the car is clean, go to a junk yard, and pull a 420A out of a car. But don't get it if it has over 170K.
If you find one, and it had no problems running, just totaled, get it and drop into your car. Or look for a cheap Talon/Eclipse with a shot tranny, and swap em.

If your car has seen quite a bit of rust, part it out. Save up for either another 420A N/T or save up some more, and buy a turbo'd DSM.

I went through all the stages of the 420A. Making it look clean. Then Body kit & Wing. Then actually realizing the body is shot, and parting it. (BTW These motors are extremely easy to pull, and put back in.)

I got my 95 Talon, and now I am selling it, cause I am going to upgrade. Ill be getting a TSi.
So, Its just easier to save up and get a TSi/GS-T/GSX.
Plus, I think once you ride in one, you will want one.

If I were you I would keep your 2g and get it running and save your ass off and get a turbo dsm and have both. I sold my 98 eclipse n/t and bought a 91 tsi awd and its no big deal but the girls are like.. "you got rid of your eclipse for this?" :ohdamn: sucks sometimes but when you hit boost and thegirl is speechless makes it worth it :cool:
 
why shouldnt any 16 year old have turbo

Because at the age of 16 being responsible to drive is more than enough privilege. Just because you have a license doesn't mean you know how to drive.

It takes a few years behind the wheel to become a good driver. And I'm not talking about the 1320 or autocross, I'm talking general driving.

Youngins need a nice simple slow car to get used to the road and driving around and learning. And don't say well I have been driving since I was 15 and now I'm 17. It doesn't matter it takes years. You won't be a good driver until your at least 20.

But I'm just saying that there are other things to focus on when your 16/17 than driving a turbo car. You don't need to see how fast you can go, or how to top out 2nd gear or how to blow up a clutch or watch a boost gauge.
It's all about being responsible.

When I was your age my parents wouldn't let me have any sports car that was RWD until I was 19. Yes it sucked back then but it is much appreciated as now I look back I bet I would of wrapped it around a tree.
 
Because just like me when i was 16, you will get carried away. Either destroy your motor or crash (like i did) Get huge ticket and court fines and get screwed

It WILL happen. Whether you think it will or not. We are young and dumb and reckless.

Once you do learn your lesson you grow up quick. At least i did.

Save your self the trouble and money now
