so i picked up a 98 galant es with the good old 4g64 5speed. this car is my winter beater and i am contemplating turboing it. i have everything i need to turbo it 14b turbo, manifold, injectors, safc, wally 190, smic, etc.. my question is if i slap a turbo on this head and block how long will it last at 8 psi and what kind of power gains am i going to see?

wow I'm in a good mood today... depends entirely on what condition your car is in, if your running a 12 year old timing belt on it who knows may last 1 year turboed may last 20 seconds... run a compression test then a leak down test, do then do the normal mait work on your car before turboing. once that is all done and your turbo it then power wise depends on tune and what grade fuel your going to use. 89,91,92,93,e85, race gas, also who tunes your car. you can also check out thegalantcenter.com and take alook around and see what results others have gotten on the same setup.

welcome to the galant family. well you should be seeing around 200 hp to the wheels, and these engines last if you dont abuse it. Ive been running 9-10 psi for an year now and i love it. You can join TheGalantCenter.net and see it for yourself. My screen name there is MKO there are many 7 gen /94-98/ galants going turbo or turboed already. With a few DSM upgrades we are much faster and a stock DSM. Hope i see you there
