Burping coolant on new motor

How do I properly fill my new motor with coolant before that first startup? How do I burp it?

Use a funnel like the one shown below. Fill it about half way and let the car warm up, you will see some big air bubbles and it will burp itself.

Best trick that there is to use an asprin when installing the thermostat. Push open the thermostat, put an asprin in it to hold it open, fill the coolant system until it tops the cap, start it up, refill the little bit that is needed and you are done. The asprin will disolve in a short time and your system will be full.

On a 4G63, you can just fill it up and most of the air will rise out. Squeezing the top radiator hose helps with getting the air out. Once you start it, have the heat turned over to hot so air isn't trapped in the heater core or lines.

Just filled it up and squeezed the hose every once and a while. Worked fine.
