i have been trying to find info on what size of injector goes in my 97 eagle talon tsi turbo awd automatic.. i want to buy new ones for it .. the ones in there now seem to make a ticking noise at idle speeds and then goes away at higher rpm. is this nornal also. ?
 
The stock size is 450cc. Sometimes they'll make a little ticking noise, and that's normal. All injectors tick to some degree as a result of the inherent function of how they work. You may also be hearing lifter tick, which is quite common on DSM's. You can use a mechanic's stethoscope to find out if it's your injectors or lifters, or if one of the injectors is louder than the others.

All 2g's came with 450's. Only the automatic 1g's came with 390's.
 
my 97 eagle talon tsi turbo awd is an automatic . does that mean it is a 1G or a 2G..? thought it was a 2G . the ticking is not normal when i got it. plus it seems sluggish.

is my dsm a 1G or a 2G? 450 cc is the right stock size for this car?
 
Your car is a 2g. 95-99= 2g. 90-94=1g. That seems like a weird algebra problem, I know. Try solving for x.

If you need some replacement 450's, let me know. I think I still have my old ones somewhere.
 
Before buying new injectors, check the ohm resistance and volts going to them if you are concerned. They sound like they are fine to me. If you do buy new ones, buy good used ones as you don't want to buy new injectors from the dealer for I'm guessing $400.

1G T/E/L 89-94
2Ga T/E 95-96 (Body style is different, 95 year has chance for eprom ecu)
2Gb T/E 97-99 (Last year for Talon was in 98, last year for Eclipse was 99. After that, DSM is gone)
 
As someone else said, it is MUCH more likely that the ticking noise you hear is your lifters. They can often cause enough noise to trigger your knock sensor, which would explain the sluggishness you are feeling. Before you replace the injectors, why not just go to Walmart, buy a container of Techron, and dump it in your gas tank. If the injectors are dirty that should really help. It's rather rare for the stock injectors to go bad, especially if you run a good Tier One pumpgas through it pretty regularly. The additives in the Chevron, Sunoco, Texaco, and other Tier One suppliers keeps them very clean.
