I just picked up a very old HKS bov that came off of a 1988 supercharged MR2. It is identical to the 2 in the photo, but I only have one. I'm having a hard time coming up with any information about it and was hoping that someone here could tell me a little more about it and if I should try to use it on my car.

That's kind of why it appeals to me, I think it looks much cooler than some anodized purple junk with a flashy logo.

The guy has an HKS boost gauge and egt gauge that came off the same MR2. I think it may have had the HKS twincharger kit installed? HKS stopped making the kit for the MR2 in 1990 to give you an idea of how old it probably is. They are quite possible the coolest gauges I've ever seen but the sender for the EGT is gone and the needle doesn't go back to zero on the boost gauge.

Those look very OEM style like you said bransonauction not flashy at all. These could pass as a stock part if you dont see the HKS sign. I wonder what they sound like??:hmm:

Me too. I also think it's going to need a new diaghram...scary. I'm starting to think it's a modified bosch valve of some kind but I'm not sure.

I have that same BOV. I LOVE it! Such an awesome PSHH sound and pretty damn loud when vented(propperly) I get looks and comments on it all the time!

And it fits the stock 1g BOV mounting holes with NO problems at all!

looks good... and in the future if you want a discrete great bov

get the 1G Forge motorsport BOV. ... that thing is a beauty..

Cool to hear of someone else using the same thing. Looks like I might be able to get a diaghram from HKS, they have a listing on their site for "Standard Bypass Valve" and no photo, I found one through google that was around $30. I wish I could find a pic before I spend any money.

does anyone know if the stock 1g BOV is aluminum? Sorry to take the post a bit off course, I just didn't think it deserved it's own thread.

Also, can the stock valve be disassembled without ruining it? I think I may throw mine in the anodizing tank a bit later today... but no purple... just a nice black or gunmetal or something.

There's a writeup somewhere on the net about cutting the outside to disassemble it and using a vband clamp to put it back together.

what about this one!? :aha: I was searching for that BOV because I figuired I could make it look sick and give it to one of my boys to replace the 1st gen BOV.. but I found this one instead..
