ok so long story short... i was going on the onramp of the freeway
and i gave it a little, nothing too major, it wasnt like i was beating the s@#$ outta it. anyways, wehn i was shifting from 3rd to 4th gear all hell broke loose. the tranny (which only has about 5 to 6k on it at the time jsut put it in a month ago) 3rd gear suck or somehting, wouldnt shift into 4th and where the shift linkage meets at the trans, that whole thing is locked up, i tried for 45 mins to break it loose. now dont say i beat the trans into the ground, i babbied this thing like no ohter. do you think that the guy i bought it from didnt rebuild it right? and also when i push in the clutch it goes straight to the floor, theres no pressure on it to return it to where it's supposed to be.

any help is much appreciated, if you may have an extra awd 2g trans your wanting to sell let me know! i need to figure out something asap since this is my dd.

haha well i have the awd tranny that was in it when i bought it but it had no 2nd gear. so that does me no good haha and get this.. i find the guys number that i bought the tranny from, and the number is out of service. ive only put like 500 miles on this tranny myself so i was gonna give him an earfull. its not like i installed it incorectly either, my dad is a mechanic and my neighbor is a master mechanic for we energies so its not like we hacked the POS in there we did everything right. it just pisses me off i shoulda went to shep for the extra 100 bucks.

master or slave cylinder leak.

I didn't look to see where you live but Kijiji Toronto is usually a good source for me, I'd look for either a parts car or a beat one and turn it into a parts car, on a side note instead of a new tranny I'd pony up to have the existing one rebuilt proper then you know it's good to go.

I bought my Eagle Talon AWD turbo and I've been slowly replacing & inspecting everything just in case..... their was one for $1000 with a broken timing belt and now I wish I'd simply bought it and saved the money so I could start from scratch with minimal fee's given I'm tearing the car & engine apart anyway.

it would leak that fast tho? the clutch master cylinder was full of fluid so i dont seee how it could be leaking? i mean when the car was jammed in 3rd and i was slowing down it still had back pressure on the clutch and when i came to a stop i let the clutch out and i heard a grinding noise so i shut it off and 5 mins later it has no pressure:banghead:

i sent the guy an email from who i got it from so HOPEFULLY he'll reply and not leave me hangin on this. do you think it was rebuilt wrong? it only had like 6000 on the rebuild

you could have a friend push the clutch and you get under the car and look at the slave cylinder as he/she does it, look if the rod extends, it could tell if the master is dead or not fully bled/air in system.

the slave cylinder pushes on the fork that goes from the throwout bearing to outside of the transmission?

Sounds like the clutch and or PP died. Don't go blaming the trans immediately...

2-3 days before this incident occured, it felt as if the 3 and 4th gears were sort of sticking? when you went to push it out of the gear it wouldnt just go out you had to push on it a little more than usual. i didnt think anything of it since it was getting cold out i thought that was what was causing it.

Well its possible it grenaded and took out the front of the trans case... but typically you'd notice something like that...

Since you have 2 awd transmission both with different problems, why dont you just take them both and make one good one? Save you money in the long run instead of buying yet another transmission that will possibly have something else wrong with it.

well thanks for the advice but the first trans was starting to go too. 4th gear grinded when i downshifted from 5th and reverse was shot. im leaning towards sending my first transmission that was in the first place to shepard and get the stage 2 rebuild. i talked to the guy that i bought the second one, he said the 3-4 shift fork went on it and he hung up on me when i asked if he could send me a new trans or could he give me my money back and i send him the core. he hasnt answered any of my calls since. F@$%&ng scammers

yeah i dropped the transfer case out the next day and its solid, no signs of anything being broke on it so thats a releif, that usually would have been my luck for something like that to happen.

my question is how would i know if my clutch/ pressure plate are bad? is there anything i should be looking for? i have a feeling that theres something wrong with one if not both of these things.

Well does you clutch still work? I.E if you have it in gear and you push the clutch will the car still move?

well when i pulled over and i let the clutch out, it made a winding noise like it was somewhat engaged but not totally, so i just killed it and 5 mins later the clutch had no pressure in it. (the pedal went straight to the floor when i just barely touched it when its a act 2100 so it usually is real firm when you press on the clutch pedal. i went under the car and messed with the throw out bearing release fork and it doesnt spring back to where it should usually rest, so the slave cylinder can push on it, but the release fork doesnt push back on the slave cylinder. any ideas on what could be wrong? i had my friend go in the car and push on the clutch and the slave cyl. moves in and out fine so i dont think its that. any help is much appreciated.

Look, you don't have 3rd/4th gear break and suddenly you loose all clutch pedal etc.

The only way that happens is if you seriously grenaded the trans and cracked up the bellhousing/throw out bearing shaft.

So do simple logical tests, stick it in 1st gear, push the clutch and start the car. If it moves and or makes funny noises you might just have clutch/PP issues.

My bet is a spring popped out of your clutch hub and is wedged between the clutch and the PP fingers...

the shifter is stuck in place. i have abotu a quater inch i can move it up and down, no movement to the left and i can get it about half way over to get in 5th.

theres no way i can get it in first the way it is. i know the trans is cooked, but i dont know if i need to get a new clutch/pressure plate?
