So its not leaking anything but it smokes? Cold start it and get your head under there with a flashlight and see where its coming from.
If you fail to notice anything it could just be old paint or oil on the newly installed manifold.
yes an ebay 16g and ok im gonna cold start it but it usually doesn't smoke right away it takes it like 30 seconds then smoke comes from the manifold and turbo but im sure its stuff just burning off like a LOT of pb blaster.
After I did my turbo swap my car smoked and smelled like crap for three days then it smoked again the first time I really heated up the turbo with some back roads fun.
I wouldn't be too worried, it is normal but if you are getting a smoke screen from the tailpipe then it would be worthwhile to check your oil return tube, if it is blocked or kinked it will force oil through the seals and smoke like crazy. If you catch it early it doesn't do any damage.
driving the car and the rpms randomly dropped to 0 then came back
So i just put new turbo fmic ### lil bov and manifold on my car. i drove it around maybe.. 15 mins no boost. as i was turning around in someones driveway i get in the road as soon as i let it outta gear the rpms dropped to 0 then came back up. but when i first started driving it it didn't do that. not until i drove it a little bit... any ideas?
Could be your ISC going bad, ECU caps with corrosion, an aftermarket flywheel, boost leak, etc.
Check everything over good. What BOV are you running? Recirc'd?
Non-recirculated BOV's can cause stalling and running rich. Maybe you should recirculate that thing. Open up your ecu and check it out. In the mean time, buy a hose and fix your bov.
i put the stock bov back on.. since the sqqv blows off really early i thought the loud high pitch squeal was the bov... well put the stock bov back on. took it down the road and bout 3,000 rpms the car squeals... soo im guessin i have a boost leak. it sounds like a duck call. and it still drops rpms. hmm... no look for boost leaks.... fun..
whatever they used to clean the manifold and turbo is just burning off. alot of times they coat it with something similar to wd 40 and it soaks in and takes awhile to burn out. nothing to worry about. the ssqv bov should be a problem, just do some tuning
No. Simple tuning will not fix a vented BOV - unless you have the proper setup to be running a vented bov. IE: GM MAF + Translator.
Or just vent the damn thing back into the intake like it was meant to be.
To the OP: Fill out your car modification list fully, i feel there is some things your leaving out here.
What spark plugs are you running?
Spark plug gap? - Go .028"
Could you elaborate on what you mean by the car "Squeals"
vented or non vented bov will not make a difference or cause the problems that your having..
I seen and heard of ebay 16gs 18gs and 20gs lasting 1 day or less and all they do is smoke all day.. if its not spooling is because of the same problem the turbo.. put your bov back on because it sounds like the stock is giving you a boostleak.
