ok so i was driving my 91 mitsubishi eclipse gsx it ran fine so i came home and shut it off. after a while i came back out to go drivin wit a bunch of ppl and i had nothing, i have full power, and i tried jumping it but i dont even hear the starter engage. we tapped the starter maybe thinking its starting to mess up but nothing. i checked all of my fuses and relays and everything is ok. please help me cause my car is sitting blocking my driveway and my dad is getting pissed off
 
check the oil level to make sure the engine is not seized. try to spin the crank pulley with a ratchet if it spins the motor is not hurt. there is a single pin wire that goes to the stater you have to check it for 12v while you crank the car, if you get the 12v most likely youre starter went bad.
 
the engine isnt seized i jus checked it out. but what do i have to do cause the starter doesnt even do anything an you said crank it over? haha sorry for the confusion but im still getting used to the dsm life
 
Ask your dad to help you.

You'll need use a voltmeter to check is battery voltage is reaching the solenoid input on the starter when you turn the key.

Is your car a manual or a automatic?
Do you have the factory manuals? If not you should download them from scribe.
 
the car used to be auto but it was converted to manual b4 i got the car. i have an owners manual out of my 90 tsi. are they pre much the same???
 
Check the fusible links under the hood. They may look god, but looks are deceiving. You need to test them. If the "motor" fusible link blew it would cause this problem your having.

Ususally its caused by a wire getting grounded out by the battery tray or some other sharp object.

I would seriously look into the fusible links though. Like I said I had the same problem and looked at everything and it looked fine but wasn't.

I'm not talking about the Owners Manual. I'm talking about the Factory Service Manuals.

The fact that your car has been converted just makes your work more difficult.
 
alright so i figured it out. sense my car used to be automatic it still has the neutral safety switch. well the switch was bouncing around and the little thing that turns thought it was in reverse, or drive so it wouldnt let the starter inguage. its like when u try to start it without the clutch in. but thanks for the help everyone
 
There are only two things on the automatic inhibitor switch of interest after the swap.
The starter interlock and the reverse signal.

I'd have to refresh my memory but the interlock required cutting two wires out of the car side connector and splicing them together and the reverse wire get run over to the switch on the manual trans so the backup lights turn on when you put it in reverse.
