TB Shaft seal LEAK question

question my TB Shafts are leaking should i change them right away whats the effects???

The effect of bad seals is usually a bad idle and possibly fuel cut. Very cheap part to fix, go to plymouthlaser.com and look up his walk-through. And how do you know that your tb seals are leaking?

Well because i boost leaked test and its comming from back there you can hear it and when i hear it leaking i can turn the throttle and the sound changes..

The plymouthlaser.com walk through is great and you may even be able to find the correct o-ring at the local hardware store. Just remember to mark the tps and spring.

Sounds like shaft seals on the TB alright. Changing them is not hard. Get Chicago Rawhide. Nice catch with the BLT.

yea heard they werent hard but might not be able to change them for awhile so i was just seeing what are the effects of drivin wit it

The hardest part of changing the TB shaft seals is getting out the screws that secure the throttle plate to the shaft without stripping them. Pick up a couple extra when you get the seals; you'll probably need them

I am changing mine right now. It only takes 15 minutes to get the throttle body off the car and taken apart. It will probably take 5 minutes more to put back together due to the springs. It's not hard at all though.

The effects are:

1. Vacuum leak in off boost situations.
2. Boost leak during boost.

Do anyone know i purchased the shaft seals from mach v do i need to put them in that metal ring casing thats on it origanally on the TB

The seals from MachV have the metal casing. They are a complete replacement and ready to be installed right out of the package. Remember to put a dab of grease on them before install.
