First off, the turbo on my car is and has been working find "ebay evo 3". I wanted to pick up a replacement just in case something goes wrong.

After reading many, many, many threads i decided to find a real 20g. I found one but the guy says the turbo could use a rebuild. Since i don't really drive my car and turbo in the car works fine should i attempt to rebuild this o my own? Or is this just rocket science?

The most important thing you could do in rebuilding is balancing the assembly since that thing will be spinning in excess of 100000+ rpms. You need a machine for that, with which i'm sure you don't have :sosad:. Send it to my man at TimsTurbo (i work like ten miles from Tim, very cool cat) and he will get that thing balanced for you, and i'm pretty sure he will give you a good deal. If you do call, let him know Ismael recommended you go to him. Hopefully this helps... Tim's Turbos - Turbo Rebuilding I think is the correct web address.

would 100 for a 20g that needs rebuilding be a good price?

Yes. If the wheels are in good shape, the I don't see why you have to take the turbo to a shop. Again there is a vfaq on rebuilding an MHI turbo. Mark the compressor wheel with the shaft. And get a real MHI rebuild kit. They go for $80 on ebay. There's even an ebay vendor that sells rebuild kits that will balance your turbo for free after you rebuild it for the cost of shipping, if you're bothered by this. I recommend Jusmx141. He's fast and very reasonable with price.

Monster, thanks for the referrals! Normal turnaround time is 1-2 days.

If there is no damage to either of the wheels, that's a steal. If the wheels are damaged, you can run into quite a repair bill.
