I'm trying to track down some basic info to see if it's even reasonable for me to personally tackle a AWD auto transmission (W4A33-1) rebuild. If anyone has some good literature on auto tranny rebuilds, that would be great. I'm just not finding much. Links, books, videos, etc... Even general info would be good for starters.
I'm all for reading a few books this winter. I think my transmission will make it through the winter, but there is no way I can beat on it next summer the way it is slipping and flat out missing gears.
I think it needs a rebuild because it doesn't shift right, even with the correct amount of fluid in it. The only way it works is with half a bottle of Lucas tranny fluid additive in it. The cold weather is only making it worse. It doesn't even start to move in drive when cold until 3-4k RPM depending on the temperature outside.
