I did a boost leak test today. My Throttle body is one of my boost leaks, I just ordered some shaft seals from MachV.

I also found that my BOV is leaking some of the air, even when it is not released... it is the stock 2g BOV, these are supposed to not leak any air until it releases correct?

ALSO I can hear a little bit of air when I take off the oil cap and listen there. (I checked the PCV valve and even tried swapping it out with another, it does not seem to be the problem)

I am on a very tight budget and I am trying to spend the money that i have to make the car run reliably and correctly. right now I dont plan on ever running more than 9 PSI until I have money to blow.

Right now I am getting knock and I just really want to get things working correctly.

I just finished school and I hope to find a job within a month or two, so I really wont have much cash to blow for a few months.

Here is my Dsmlink Log: http://jakegaisser.googlepages.com/oct-18.dat

I am looking at the cost of Blowoff Valves and seeing upward of $200, and all that I have is about $250 total. I may need to just put around in my car at cruising speeds and just not boost at all PERIOD, until I have the money to invest into the car.

I do not seem to get Knock unless I boost.

I agree with erald... get a used 1g since they tend to be cheaper. You could even get away with a non-modified one and it'll hold till about 15psi without a problem (especially since you only want to run 9psi anyway.) When you listen through the oil cap do you hear just hissing air or it bubbling. PCV valves are known to leak even new so that would explain the hissing. I have to plug my PCV when I do a boost leak check just to find other leaks cause I know it's gonna leak and it's new. If it's bubbling through oil it's probably your turbo seals leaking air into the oil return and bubbling up through the oil.

Hopefully you have a wideband 02 with Link and your car isn't running lean to knock under any boost. If your tune is ok wait until you get all your boost leaks fix... they make it insanely hard for you and the computer to get a good tune.

Whats the cheapest way to hook up a 1g BOV to a 2g system?

The sound I hear is hissing, when the seals for the throttle body show up I will do another boost leak test with the PCV capped.

I do not have a wideband, I probably need to invest in the LC1 wideband controller and o2 sensor.

EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - Innovate LC-1 Cable (Standalone Wideband Controller) with O2 Sensor

Does the above link, Innovate LC-1 Cable (Standalone Wideband Controller) with O2 Sensor, is this all that I need in order to log and tune with dsmlink, or do i have to buy this one (I dont mind not having a guage, I just wasnt sure if that was all the difference is between the two):

I'm not really familiar with LINK so I dont know what type of wideband input it takes. Most wideband setups (including the two you linked) have an aux voltage output that can be sent to some tuning unit and both of those have it. Personally, I like being able to see the gauge all the time.

OK I ordered a BOV and Adapter off of ebay, this particular ebay knock off claims to be different from the rest of the knock offs on ebay in terms of quality and does actually put a name to the manufacturer. I will be sure to let everyone know how it works out

BOV: eBay Motors: EVO ECLIPSE TALON BOV TURBO BLOW OFF VALVE TYPE RS B41 (item 260304318145 end time Oct-29-08 06:04:58 PDT)

ADAPTER: eBay Motors: ECLIPSE 3000GT EVO8 BLOW OFF VALVE FLANGE FITS GREDDY (item 250304681001 end time Nov-04-08 16:47:40 PST)

I also ordered from JNZ tuning:

Shaft Seals: Throttle body shaft seal kit- 91-99 DSM and Evo 8/9 03+ : JNZ Tuning

Recirculation Kit: Greddy Type RS Blow-Off Valve Recirculation Kit : JNZ Tuning

I will post back after the parts come in and I do some more testing.

ALSO, THANK YOU, for the tip on the PCV, I did not know about that.

If these parts work out, I should have just enough left over for the standalone LC1

Well the BOV that I bought on eBay has a finer thread than the recirculation adapter that I bought from JNZTuning.

Also the recirculation adapter from JNZTuning is a 32mm and its a little bit too big to thread in even if it were the correct threads.

I wish I knew what size and thread type this was, I suppose I am going to have to take my BOV with me to the hardware store and just find some pipe that fits.

Here are some side by side pictures.
