Hey there. I have a 97 talon tsi with a 1g bov. I was wanting to know if it would hurt to drill small holes arround the venting tube just before the hose that goes back to the intake. I want it to be a little louder.

...get an intake filter, and an intake while ## at it...also, more boost will make it louder!

Thanks. Yeah, im running 18 psi with no leaks with a crushed 1g bov. e-bay big 16g thats been rebalanced and ported and it is much louder and the turbo it had stock. I just want the aggressive PPPsssHHH without loosing the good 1g bov. i want people to look at me with the OMG expression if you catch my drift. :talon:

Yeah but i dont have the gm maf translator or maf. and i don't want any backfiring or stalliing. Oh, the cops here are cool as hell, they cant wait till im completely finished with my car so they can run against me to see what i've got. Im their technician at Randall ford dealaership, so i am really familiar about what their cars can and can't do. they can't go over 145mph.:tease: and only have 360ish hp.

Excuse my last post. I didn't read that you said wastegate. LOL. But my wastegate is internal. How would i convert? Wouldn't I have to change turbo?:beatentodeath:

You need the MAF-T to dump the bov to the atmosphere. You don't need it to dump the wastegate to the atmosphere. You wouldn't necessarily have to change the turbo. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you'd need to weld the flapper shut and then change out your o2 housing to have one that has wastegate provisions. If you search, I'm sure you can find info on how to dump your wastegate.

Must be nice to have cool cops...

Hopefully they do offer something like that. For an ebay crap big 16g it pulls hard all the way though the powerband. and i dont have but a 2 psi drop around 5,900 rpm. Im not just yet ready finacially to buy a bigger turbo. I heard the green turbo is a pretty harsh turbo for the money.

you could go to a speed density set up that would let you vent and give you a good tuning device

A hard pipe intake would let you recirculate like stock and they make the stock bov sound louder. It would be cheaper than a gm maft setup anyway.

Yep. You won't be able to mount your O2 housing heat shield to it, at least not without a little creative fabrication. Some wire ties might hold it on, if it fits, but i don't think it will. But it's available in a cheaper mild steel (black) that's a bit more sleeper, or the polished version.

What kind of difference will i see/hear? A fridne of mine said that it will sound like i have a bad exaust leak. Might be cool for a few days but then i will get tired of it. That true?WTF

Yes. You will get tired of it over time. Then again maybe that's just me getting older and not interested in everyone looking at me.

You see, i saw some bov's for sale that partially vent to the atmosphere and some to the intake to satisfy the ecu as long as there is enough air going in. i don't mean like 5 or 6 holes around it, just like 2, one on each side opposite of eachother on the venting tube of the bov housing itself, not the rubber hose. just to make it a little bit louder not big holes that will let all the air out. if you think about it, your turbo is still partially spooled when you let off the throttle when the bov actuates. either way that air isn't going to be pushed out the holes as much with just two holes. the turbo is still going to suck the majority of the air in. as opposed to your typical greddy or hks partial venting systems that have rather large holes and are supposed to work. they really look like they would let more air out than recirculate. im going to take a rain check on this one until i get another 1g bov to use as a donor for my experiment.
