hey guys im looking to put in a sgt 2 clutch and flywheel on my car but i dont know who to go with i like the competition clutch company but the shop i go to recomends i get an ACT 2100 clutch and i have a friend who will sell me a exedi stg2 3 puck clutch but ive been told that for everyday driver i should go with a disk not puck clutch...my question is which one whould i get and do i want disk or puck?
:talon:

I know that the ACR 2100, disk by the way, is a good strong clutch thats not to hard on you for a daily driver. I think it can handle up to like 300-330 lbs of torque. I have two friends with that clutch and they seem to have no problems. I know its a very popular clutch among DSMers.:thumb:

Oh... forgot to answer your Disk or puck question.... You can go with preference on this one, depends on what you want out of your clutch. Probably with your setup a street disk style clutch will be more than enough. Puck style clutches tend to really grab and have usuallyhave little to no slippage. Good for not slipping with high horsepower cars but are not forgiving enough... in my opinion for a daily driver. First time you do stop and go traffic you will understand why I said they grab!!!:tease:

If it was my car i would go with ACT. And between discs, i would go with a street disc. The pucked clutch is more of a racing clutch and is made with materials such as ceramic and brass. It is good fo launching but it wont last as long as a street disc, which is made of organic material, which will last a lot longer but wont take the abuse of you launching your car. But, the street disc provides smooth engagement unlike the pucked disc. So if your car is a daily driver, I would say the street disc is the way to go.

I would go with OEM TOB, ACT2600 Street Disc and SS Clutch Line. They makes a good clutch job right there. I love my 2600, I know its harder then a 2100, but I do fine myself to enjoy the extra grab.

Plus pucked disks will brake tranny parts if launched too hard!

with AWD I would say 2600 only cause you have more wheels to turn, this would be pressure on your tranny harder to turn then a GS-T would. A GSX would be a better witha a 2600 I have driven both, and if you plan on 300-400 take the 2600. I have been told when I asked the same question. Pucked clutchs will eat your stock tranny in your car if you pop the clutch to hard. I would not get a pucked clutch on a AWD. The disc is more then great. I have only replaced mine 1 time so far since getting it, its way better then my friends Centerforce, the centerforce doesn't let you feel the power your applying to the road, but does save your leg in traffic.

Thanx, you do make a good point about the awd factor...ima look into the 2600 then...

yeah im not even gana go into the puck style ones ...

has anyone herd anything good about the Competition Clutch stg 2 ?
:talon:

I've never dealt with any competition clutches because I love act and I will never go with any other clutch because I seen what a act can take..Plus act backs there product 150% for 3 years if you buy it new.. I'm not dogging and other clutches I just go with what I know works. I had a puck disk in my first dsm and all i have to say is for a dd you better start leg presses to get used to the pressure. In fact it was so tight it broke my clutch fork in half( but I think it was installed wrong thought)..Yes everyone is right street disk 2600 for awd...

i suggest u get a act 2600 with a 6 puck disc >>>>>>why spend money and time twice when you can do it once only

By the time he builds up his motor to were a puck disk would be needed it would be time to replace the clutch anyways.
