For some reason, when I drive and throw it in neutral it will hold a rev at 2300, instead of idleing at about 900-1000. When I finally come to a complete stop it drops the rev back to normal idle. None of my friends knows whats up, and I'm out of reasons. Anyone know what's up?

Your cable is possibly too tight. Make sure it's completely closed. Otherwise you it's probably a boost leak.

ha...i wish it was a boost leak, that means id be turbo'd which im not =]..LOL but thanks..i dont think its too tight, becuase it will go back down to normal idle when i stop...

ok, so i feel retarded..and i think i might have a solution but not sure..i did a check of my engine, and im missing my back bottom belt..i dunno what it goes to..but there is just a pulley..could that be my problem? :coy:

sounds like the a/c has been disconnected but that wont cause your isue, why are you shifting into neutral anyways? ive seen several thread aabout cars not running right when driving ad shifting to neutral but no one can give me a non ricer answer as to why? so? why?

^^^

Holy crap, I don't think it is, but it certainly needs attending too! As for the idling, I've had the same thing but in my AT. You should get plugged up to find out.

I think where it's in Neutral it may have something to do with the Air to Fuel coming in or a sensor/wire is gone. Just throwing in things that I have gone through in mine as I, by far, have had the weirdest idle problems like you wouldn't believe.

And this coming from a 26 Year Old who has hear it all! :)

What in the hell is it with you people and your coasting? DO NOT COAST A CAR. You're taking away more than half the control you have over it when you don't have the driveline connected. And, it's illegal.

Why do you coast in neutral anyways? If you are doing so to save gas, you are doing the opposite. If you leave it in gear, the ECU will cut fuel when you're off the throttle -- no fuel is being used at all, where if you put it in neutral you are using some fuel to keep the car idling.

I always put mine in nurt when comeing to stops and stuff. My clutch is hard to push in and my legs would give out if i held the clutch in when comeing to every stop.

its kinda different with a manual i believe. theyre talking about auto cars. i think

haha nah, i got 5 speed =]:sneaky:

ok so ive been confused, but there are alot of threads like this with auto cars having problems when shifting to neutral. i should know this as many times as ive torn my friends car apart but does the 420a have an ISC of any sort? Idle speed control

let me finish up something else and ill do a quick runthrough of the chiltons again..... im bored today

im having the same problem, and its my ISC sensor.iF you have a bad ISC sensor, the ECU will throw a code.Driving with a bad ISC, you could melt your ecu chip ;)

I downshift coming to stops and put in neutral right before I stop. My wideband shows my car is using no fuel coming to a stop this way, where it would use some idling and would be harder on the brakes.

word so i figured it all out
i was missing my alternator belt, and that fixed the problem
i guess it was trying to pull rev, but nothing was catching..
everythings fine now thanks guys
