Someone broke into my Car, now I've got electrical problems!

Guys, I have a 91 Talon Tsi AWD. Some idiots shattered the drivers side window last night and tore the stereo out. Now the door locks don't work simultaneously (when I lock or unlock the drivers side the passanger side doesn't lock or unlock). Also the ABS light stays on now. Any ideas? Doesn't look like they messed with anything but the wiring behind the stereo.

check to see if any wires are grounded ,becareful not to fry the harness

Also the interior dome lights are not working anymore. The dash lights up and everything else seems to work though. Could it possible just be a fuse?

i belive the stero and dome work off the same fuse ,but your power locks if the fuse for it was blown shouldnt work at all

The worst part is that there is nothing really the cops can do. I woke up in time to see the guys jump back in their car and take off. I wasn't able to get the plate number or a real good description of the guy. Cops came and filled out a report and took a description of the car, but beyond that I don't see them doing to much about it.

I don't even care so much about the stereo, but having to dump a whole bunch more money into it just to fix something I shouldn't have to pisses me off.

they wont do anything ,had my work truck brokeing into and 2000.00 worth of tools stole and they wouldnt even come out they took a report over the phone,luckly i was insured

Thanks for the offer. I am going to check it out more tomorrow and I will let you know. I know exactly what you mean. I park my car right outside the window and the window is usually cracked at night so I hear everything.

Check the alternator fuse under your hood - I'm not sure how this could have happened from stealing the radio, but these are all symptoms of a blown alternator fuse.

Do you have power windows? Do they work? A blown alternator fuse would cause no interior lights, power windows, power mirrors, electric locks, etc.

Usually for the alternator fuse to blow, something needs to be touching the power terminal on the alternator (under the protective red plastic cap).

Either way, you have a short somewhere.

Sounds like something is causing a short. Usually for the alternator fuse to blow something needs to be touching the power terminal on the alternator (under the protective red plastic cap).

Either way, you have a short somewhere.

The power windows are working just fine. I didn't check the power mirrors, I'll do that tomorrow. I'll check it out though and let you know. Thanks for the info
