First of all I'll like to tell you guys I bought a dsm. I have read the rules and I am sorry if i misspell words as English is not my first language. I just bought a Mitsubishi eclipse 1999 gs-t with 115k and a rebuilt engine. All gears work good except 1st gear. When I push the clutch and let go of it slowly you start hearing some weird noise like really fast metal things hitting, but all others gear work good so i take off in 2nd. Well I will post up a video of the problem tomorrow, I just want to know if you guys think if it's the clutch or transmission?

And I am going to post pictures of the car and engine and would like to know if you guys think it's an upgraded turbo, I believe that it has the j-pipe but I want your opinions as I am pretty new to dsm. Thank you guys.

you should get rid of that BOV, and get a BOV you can recirculate, then follow by recirculating it.

Also you are missing a manifold to turbo bolt.

if you want to be anal, the hose on the overflow that directs the fluid down to the ground is missing.

And yes it does look like he upgraded the turbo, take a picture of the compressor housing, should have some numbers on it to better distinguish what.

I like that ground cable he changed to.

and previous owner really liked that red RTV.

i believe that valve cover is from a 1g.

sorry i couldnt help with your tranny question, but the above information should give you more details about your car. hope you are really ready to get into DSMs ;)

would you like to trade your black leather seats, for the awesome 95 only preforated more sporty look grey leather, which has power driver side ;)

Yeah I have some paperwork, it says it has an evo III big16 with 2g install kit.
I will get those checked out thanks for the information, anything else that looks weird, i got it for $1,500.

Ill stay with my black leather seats, they are no tears and in perfect condition.

Yea your syncro/hubslider is gone most likely because of a bad bearing in the trans. Its a common problem with 2gs.(just like my car)

So I heard a lot about tre transmissions, but I like to know if it's better to let a shop do it, or pay some mechanic to take off my transmission so I can send it to them and then have the mechanic put it back on.

what looks weird is you got a 99 gst for $1500, clean title?

Yes sir, It just hasn't gotten registered. So I'm going to pay 2 years of the registration. What else, hmm... I have paper work from what the car has. I will take a video of it tomorrow, the guy claimed that he is going to buy a mobile home and they raised the down payment and needed the money asap. He also lived in a garage so i believed him in that part. Oh yeah and the car passed smog last year.

I wouldn't really rely on the OEM oil pressure gauge (which is why I ordered an after market one). It's inaccurate a lot of the times. Mine flew straight up to high and has never moved from there ever. It could be that the sensor is bad or the wire is not plugged in/is bad.

Thanks il get on that when I get my transmission/clutch fix if anyone knows?

Yea that sounds identical to my car. I got a quote for 700-800 so its not to bad especially since u got it for 1500. If you've ever worked on a car then taking out the transmission in a dsm is pretty easy. Take off the lower control arms and strut knuckle and pop out the axles, remove the 5 bolts on trans and then the 3 trans mounts. Its like a 2-3 hour job.

I bet if u push and hold it into 1st real hard it'll work.

Yeah the person i bought it off said it works but he didn't use first because of the sound. If I try this will it mess it up more?

You also said that they charge you x amount of money, did they tell you what the problem is? Was it a local shop?

Thank you for your response.

Hey guys I was wondering if turbochargers.com is a good company, because the guy bought an evo 3 big16g turbo from there.

Also this labor is expensive.!!!! $1400 for labor and $265 for parts.

If anyone knows about ANY possible problem in my video please tell me so I wont get ript off.

Hey guys, I am getting ready to take off the transmission. I looked at my oil pan and the oilpan part is sticking outside, so this means it's a 6 bolt? When I ask for a rebuild so I say it's for a 1g or 2g? Newb question I know but I'm just trying to make sure before I make someone rebuild a wrong part or something.
