my transfer case locked up today ,now I have to change the gear box because I don,t have another t case for it . is there a difference between the gears 1st to 5th from a 1990 gear box compared to the 1992 awd gearbox ,because i have another 92 one but 2nd gear and and reverse is shot ,but the 1990 one is still good .can it be changed or not .

90 tranny awd 22 spline T case

92 and up 23 spline tranny thats the only diffrence i know between both trannies

you can try to find another T case before you change your tranny

i had a T case lock up on me and the tranny was not blown only the T case

You can try taking it apart if you know how to and swap out the bad parts depending but easier way would be to just get another transfer case

And yes, the splines are different along with the shifter cables. I believe 92+ have longer cables while 90's have shorter cables

If you look at where they mount up, you can tell the arms are different and definetly longer
