just got the new turbo mani and just wondering if the gaskets that came with it will work cause im kinda nervous to even try them. i was kinda expecting some sort of metal gasket set, let me know what u think. here are some pics. they fell like cardboard but i dont think they are. i think they are made of some kind of compsite. any input is helpful.

They are likely the "felpro" generic style gaskets. As long as they have some sort of "fire ring," which is a piece of actual metal that surrounds the holes that the exhaust gasses will be passing through, they should probably be fine. In fact, the stock exhaust manifold gasket on a 1g, not sure about a 2g, is the style described above. The oem manifold-to-turbo gasket is, however, completely made of metal. I personally wouldn't run either of the gaskets in the picture considering all of the work involved removing and reinstalling the exhaust manifold. You should be able to obtain fully metal gaskets, oem or otherwise, from one of the many vendors on this site.

Keep in mind if you are going to use a metal gasket, the two mating surfaces have to be very clean and flat. I have been running a felpro head-manifold gasket (with the fire rings like srumel described) for about 5k miles with no ill effects. However, I am using a metal manifold-turbo gasket as they were both machined flat. I would recommend metal only for the manifold-turbo application.

Also, please provide some better pictures so we can be sure of what you have. I wouldn't hesitate on suggesting felpro, but what you have might be spray painted cardboard for all we can see.
