Well first time at the track last night and broke already. I went to grab second gear and my shifter came out in my hand. I thought maybe it was just the knob but i tore the bag off and it was the whole assembly. basically the bolt that holds the vertical shifter shaft is broke. Luckily sense it could not pivot i was able to find 3rd and 4th gear to get home and i was about 75 miles away. Anyways basically what im asking is that is this the only thing that should be broke if the only gears i can get it in is 3rd and 4th? And if so is this a quick fix?

If the shifter bolt broke like you said then it should just be as simple as replacing the shifter. Did you have a short shifter or was it stock? You could only grab 3rd and 4th probably because you dont have to pivot to the left to grab 1st and 2nd. I would grab one from the junkyard or get one from someone parting their car out. Remember to get one from a 2g though. Or you could go ahead and get a b&m clone from ebay. They would probably run you about the same. Was your stock shifter rusted or something?

You broke the pivot pin. Just take the shifter apart and take it to a local shop and they can re-weld the unit. Just make sure you make it straight so everything lines up right when you reinstall it. Good luck man.
