I'm going to recirculate the BOV, is this right?

Hi all,

I'm very new to the working-on-my-own-car world. But, I'm quick learner, and I wanna make sure I'm doing everything right.

I have an aftermarket BOV, which is currently vented to the atmosphere. This weekend I'm going to install a short ram air intake and I plan on re circulating the BOV. With the new intake fully installed, is re-circulating the BOV as simple as connecting it to the intake with a tube (such as the blue one you can buy at home depot) and clamping the tube on both ends?

Thanks for your answers.

yup pretty much. Make sure it is tight because you can get unmetered air into the intake.

+1 on the tightness. My car is especially picky about unmetered air (ie boost/vaccum leaks) Also make sure the "tube" you get is a good and unrestrictive fit from your BOV to the intake. If its crumpled up and bent to fit then you will most likely not be pleased with the results. Once you recirclulate properly, you will likely be surprised at how well the BOV "Whoosh" still sounds.

Myself and others are using 1 1/4 radiator flex hose from the parts store. It works pretty well and is inexpensive. Here's a thread with a pic in it..

I'm going to go to Home Depot and get the blue vacuum hose that I saw on another members DSM. I just thought it looked really nice and clean. However, if for some reason that doesn't work, I will certainly go the the flex hose you are speaking about.

good idea with recirc. i always thought the sound was worth the little performance i missed, but before i recently reblew my headgasket, i recirced my bov after venting it for 3 yrs. it really does make a difference, i moved to a slightly bigger turbo, and it spools up just like my smaller turbo...and still sounds cool :thumb:
