So i jacked up my car today and i noticed alot of left and right play in the wheel like the wheel turns left and right on its own
i looked under it and everything seemed to be fine
does anyone have an idea on what it is
wheel bearing?
tie rod ends?

Grab the tie rod end and shake it up and down. If there is play between the end and the knuckle, the outer end is bad. If one side is bad, check the other side of the car as a precaution.

Could be a wheel bearing, but there would also be play when shaking the tire at the 12 and 6 o clock posistion.

Or it could just be that you need an alignment

No reputable shop would do an alignment with a loose wheel. Out of alignment is not a cause for a loose wheel, it is a the effect. An alingment is what you should have done after you fix the loose wheel problem.

I've had this problem in the past. If it's side to side, it's most likely to be your tie rod ends. 12 and 6 o'clock play means it's your wheel bearing.

Good luck and let us know once it's repaired.

im gonna replace the outer tie rod end and let u know how it goes
thanx and ill post in here to show my results!

Here's 2 videos. The first show side to side play, then up and down play. I had both a bad wheel bearing AND a bad tie rod end.

The second video shows how you can check your tie rod end. It shouldn't have that much play.

I slid into a hillside then drove my car with the damage wheel bearing and tie rod end for 3000 miles. I'm lucky my wheel didn't fall off.

Jack up your car about an inch off the ground and slide a pry-bar under the tire. Pry up and then let go a couple times, if there is play it could be a wheel bearing like everyone has been saying or something that no one here has mentioned is upper and lower ball joints. You can tell for sure by just watching all suspect areas while prying.

There are no upper balljoints on the front of a 1G, it uses a strut/spring assembly that bolts to the top of the knuckle.

The balljoint is a good check too, we were just starting slowly. ;) On a 1G, the threaded section of the balljoint faces up going through the knockle, therefore to check the balljoint you will need to pry between the knuckle and the control arm to check it for play. To do this you must have the vehicle jacked up by the body and the suspension uncompressed.

Your tie rod is shot and it looks like your ball joint is bad as well. When you drive your car you hear a grinding noise like a low growl that's usually a textbook signal that your wheel bearing is bad.
Just do yourself the favor and rebuild it all, Ball joints inner and outer tie rod ends and wheel bearings on both sides.

If you have that kind of money laying around.... plus you'll need an alignment after replacing any suspension part.

so i got under my car and looked at it all
i wiggled the wheel and it wiggles like every way.
so im thinking its the wheel bearing
### i saw the axle moving too

If the bearing has alot of play u may need to get a hub for it also, if you try doing it yourself make sure you have access to a hub also, ### it sucks when you get the car apart and find out that you need that to. Then your calling buddies for a ride to find a part thats a day or 2 to get.

So i went to the junkyard and all they had was a spindle off of a fwd turbo
so i took the drivers side, i got home and everything was going smooth until puttin the brakes on so to make a long story short i took off everything off of the spindle and put my old disk on and it worked fine drove it and it drove way way way way better so i think the problem is fixed
thanks guys
