ok so basically my transmission has a mind of its own. its an automatic gs (nothing special just a dd) and for about 2 weeks now the transmission has been acting up. It will wind out gears to just about 4500-5000 rpms and then shift...half the time when I left off of it to let it shift it still doesnt...it will have to wind way down to shift..........another problem is that when I'm driving at a normal pace it will automatically downshift for no apparent reason...I was thinking the tranny just needs flushed and a new filter but the fluid looks good on the dipstick....I'm going to change it here in the next couple of days....this is getting really annoying so I hope you guys can give me some advice...if I cant do anything I'll just do a 5 spd swap LOL (yeah right)

yeah I'm throwing a code as we speak...but I was told it comes up as EGR ( which is probably due to the fact that I accidentally broke off the valve) but no other codes...I was just thinking that a new fluid and filter change would do it but I guess not...By the Way I was told it has a manual computer in it...dont know if that would contribute to the problem or not

I was just talking to a friend of mine who used to be a mechanic at a Mitsu dealership and he said the automatic trannys on those are weak. He said he used to rebuild those all the time. But try flushing your tranny before anything else.

I believe Locke was talking transmission codes and not engine codes. Check this out for pulling auto transmission codes:

TCU Codes

I was, but on the 2gnt, the ECU communicates with the TCU via the CAN bus. If TCU fault codes are present, the ECU will dump code P0700.

It could very well be, if a sensors output is still within operating range, it won't throw a code. It may be very off, though, and still within range.
