The other day I got a duplicate key for my 92 Talon. The key wouldn't work in any of the locks. Not the doors, not the back, not the ignition, nothing. I got another key, same thing. I tried to use some graphite lubricant with no luck. Any idea on why this might be happening? They new keys look identical to the old one?

If it's a poor cut jiggling the key or backing it out some will still open the tumblers.

I've kinda already tried that but I'll try some more... I think there is more to it. I think the two places that cut the keys both had the same machine. Should I try somewhere different and get a third key?

Have the key cut at a lock smith. Before paying for it, have them go outside and show you in person that it works.

the reason most keys have problems is because you are not really getting a new key cut but a duplicate of the key you already have. in order for you to get a key that functions the way it is supposed to; you will need to get a new key cut....not just a duplicate of the old worn out key.

I payed something like 11 dollars for my key at the locksmith. They looked up the code off of my original talon key, put it in their computer and made me a brand new key, worked perfect. I originally tried a key from home depot and it would not work in the doors or hatch, only sometimes in the ignition.

My experience: On all of my Eclipse's, I of course was only given 1 key. I went to Home Depot and got my keys made and never had a problem with them to work in the doors, hatch and the ignition. It just takes a little "finangling" to get it slide in the key hole, since they are new and not as worn out as the old one.

I also like the dealer thing for something like this.
