I cleared my cel codes from the ecu (dang speed sensor malfunction thing, LOL) and I have put over 1000 miles on the car since then, but the ECU will not save any of the setting = I say settings: you know the EGT, O2, all those little icons or whatever that blink until they have been saved or whatever.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

I'm thinking it was a previous owner that did something - because the check engine light will not come on even if there are CEL codes - hence me not passing inspection. The car has thrown bad O2 codes, speed sensor codes, evap control codes, etc and never shown a check engine light...

ALSO, i noticed that with a very very empty gas tank, the low fuel light will not come on (only knew I had one because it came on yesterday (for the first time ever) for a few minutes while i let the car warm up - friend came over so I shut it off. started it back up, no fuel warning light...

PS- 10 AMP Room Lamp fuse is good...

What gives here? Searched but couldn't find solution....

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the ECU not saving any of the settings.

One thing that may have happened is the previous owner took out the CEL bulb because it was constantly on and they were sick of looking at it. That's easy to find out if the bulb is still there - pull the cluster out and just look. You'd see an empty hole behind the CEL logo.

The low fuel warning light comes on when you have approximately 2.1 gallons left in the tank. If the gas needle gets really low, it either may need to be calibrated or just may fluctuate very far. As for the gas light going on and off, this is normal and depends on where the gas is level wise and location wise in relation to the sensor. I've had mine go on and off for miles and miles.

Does your low fuel light come on when you turn the key to the on position? I was told it was suppose to in order to let you know its working.

not sure about the fuel light coming on, but the check engine light DOES come on when you turn the ignition on - a few seconds after the car starts it turns off.

What I mean is that when driving the car, it will not save the new settings for the ECU after it has either been reset or the battery has been left disconnected: As in the O2 monitor, catalyst monitor, evap sys monitor, EGR monitor, etc............

"some states require that all vehicle Monitors have run and completed their diagnostic testing before a vehicle can be tested for Emissions"
