Hi I have a 98 Gst just recently rebuilt and I've installed a Fidanza lightweight Flywheel with a Fidanza 4.3 clutch. Since everything is new I had been trying to break in the engine (about 100 Miles I put on) as well as the Clutch. After a 100 miles of no problem driving I performed a routine shift from 3rd to 4th gear and it felt like my clutch had blown. Nothing too dramatic happened besides now there is tons of slippage and i can barely get going from first gear. My clutch pedal immediately went to a much later engagment (just like an old worn out clutch). I'm really not sure how this could have happened since i had been driving no higher than 4500 RMP with no lauches, if anyone has any recent experience with this situation or any other solutions I would appreciate to hear about em.
THanks

Contact Fidanza.

I know a local DSMer in my area who had the same clutch as me in his TSi AWD (3.2 kit), and his blew after less than 600 miles. He called Fidanza up about the situation, explaining and sending in pictures and they apologized for the incident. He also chatted with one of their people and explained his build and they upgraded him to a 4.3 setup for free because it was more on the level of his car's setup.

I've heard it happens, but I've also heard they're really good about fixing it. Good Luck!

Did you properly torque the pressure plate to 24-26 lb/ft?

Did you already adjust the clutch after break-in?

You may need to adjust your clutch, otherwise it CAN be something else, but you should try readjusting it first before thinking you need to pull it out.

Thanks for the help everyone, it ended up being pedal pump up. I had adjusted the clutch after installing everything but obviously with "pump up" it is required to do another adjustment.
I re adjusted the master cylinder rod opposed to the upper bolt since it had been stripped , does anyone know if this "pedal pump up" will be a continuous problem?
