Is factory powersteering fluid suppose to be yellow? Ive never seen yellow power steering fluid before. i just want to make sure I dont have crazy stuff in there.

Most people use "ATF" but if you buy STP brand power steering fluid it is yellow. It's basically a mineral oil with additives... added, and the red is actually a dye for identification purposes.

No stp, prestone, honda, and any other generic brand of powersteering fluid is clear. I work in autoparts and have seen it all so I know. The stuff in my car now is 100% full blown yellow.

If you have seen it all then why are you asking us if power steering fluid is yellow? doesn't make sense ROFL

to answer your question it all starts off as almost clear to light yellowish fluid. Then it is Dyed to be able to identify it. I imagine, but don't know for certain, that Power Steering fluid is traditionally Dyed to a Red to distinguish it from other fluids that might leak. So it stands to reason that someone might decide to Dye it a different color than Red sometimes. For mainly marketing purposes I would imagine.

The point is that I have seen all types of powersteering fluid but never yellow. If I popped the cap and recognized that it looked normal then I wouldnt be asking this question. My main question here that isnt being answered is....

Is this factory fluid?

The factory manual says use ATF, well ATF is red. I dont want to mix ATF with this stuff and find out it was not compatible because some idiot used the wrong stuff before me.

No, obviously it isnt factory. So it sounds to me that someone has used clear/yellow fluid instead of ATF

to answer that question no the factory fluid is not yellow. I know you were just referring to the fact that you have seen alot of things but i just wanted to mess around with you.

so no the factory fluid is not yellow but that doesn't mean that the fluid in there now is wrong.
