I just recently pulled the head on my laser. I was expecting to find a hole in one of my pistons, but instead a piece had broken off Cyl. # 2 exhaust valve. Also Cyl. # 3 was a little burnt. My main concern is if this piece would have damaged my turbo? Or is the only way to know to open it up?

I inspected the wheel and there are a couple of small nicks out of a few of the blades they are > a mm deep into the blades.

youll have to get a new wheel becasue its no longer in balence....you turbos bearing will start eating themselves....any pics?

I pulled a whole valve in pieces from my turbine housing, inbetween the blades of the turbine, and my catalytic converter. I reconstructed the valve, but neglected to take a picture. My turbo has about 500 miles on it since this happened, and it's still surviving. I'm not really pushing it though. I have another turbine for it now, and I'm not sure when I'll have the time to put it on.

Do make sure there's no chunks left in there. The people who owned the car before me told me that every so often when you stop making boost you have to "hit the turbo with a hammer". I guess they figured the car was into being abused. What it actually did was dislodge the valve pieces from the turbine. Whose been working on your DSM : /

Moral of the story, a few nicks on the turbine won't make it fail tomorrow, but it's not good for it if you plan on keeping it.

I will just pull the turbo to be safe. My car was not driven for more then 15 minutes after this happened. I'll see if I can't get some pics to show more detail.
