going to buy a 92 talon awd with evo 3 turbo etc etc HELP

okay i saw a ad for a 92 talon awd, i just talked to the guy he says its burning oil, something with oil blow by, compression in cylinder 4 is 80, burns a quart every couple hundred, no knocks or pings, though when we go we will check that out, its got a new evo 16g turbo clipped and ported, bigger intercooler piping, 550cc injectors and 17 inch rims and a set of steelies all new brakes, apexi full exhaust etc etc, he was asking 1200 but said he will take 1000, though i wanted to know from you guys if this was a good deal? especially since its burning oil, its also running 12 pounds, would this be an okay deal, maybe valve seals are gone or something, probally a rebuild needed?

Compression in the 4th cylinder is not valve seals.

It will need a rebuild, the piston rings are more lilky shot, you check by doinga wet compression test. For a $1000 to do a rebuild try to get the guy as low as possible because you will need to rebuild that engine.(Unless its the valves not closing all the way which just means the head needs to be rebuilt).

ah yup, a rebuild is what i was thinking too, what would it cost to rebuild it? or take it to a shop to do it?

It depends on what needs to be replaced and the condition of the block and head, I would just say have 2500 saved up and you should be ok. Hopefully it comes out cheaper.

i was thinking about that, pulling the motor and tearing it apart in my house and then getting stuff to put it back together correctly, also he says it has a rough idle when cold it jumps from 1500-2000 rpm

It still runs now, so try 800 cash, but he may not go that due to the fact you said he put a new turbo on there, so all you can do is try to get as low as possible .
