So yeaaaaaaaaah,

Awhile back I was runnin the talon through the paces, and i don't know wtf happened but the clutch went straight to the floor and when I went from 1st to 2nd my tranny ground like hell and it did not go into gear. This is my rebuilt tranny, the original one went out 300 miles after i picked the car up, in march of this year.

So yeah I'm on my 2nd tranny in like 5 months. Anyhow this happened to the rebuilt one. The clutch has been fine and hasn't caused me any problems since, fluid levels are all good, but that harsh grind really screwed my synchros over and it's ground ever since. Pisses me off cause I can't get the RPMs up and shift normal, and I wanted to take my car to the track, but I'm scared too after seeing the drivetrain problems with these things.

So I've been hearing about this Penzoil Synchromesh stuff, couldn't find it anywhere, but found some Royal Purple Synchromax stuff. Spendy stuff, thought maybe it would make a difference. It didn't do anything, almost seems to be worse.

Is there anything else I can do to help out with this? Someone was telling me to run a heavier oil to help the synchros engage. I don't know how much good is in following that or whatever, but I really don't wanna do another rebuild. If I do it will be getting rebuilt by shep, but I don't really wanna spend like 2k on a rebuild and have it break again.

This car is really pissing me off, I want to build it up, but the drivetrain keeps breaking under basically stock power!!!! I'm about ready to sell it and buy something else. It's fun when everythings going good, but theres always something...

I use the syncromesh and it is good stuff IMO, but not a miracle in a bottle like some people say. It helped me out a little but it was not night and day type of change. You can also do the shifter base mod to see if that helps you out, although it really sounds like a syncro, especially with it only being second gear.
I would have talked to the shop that did your rebuild the first time if you had issues soon after getting the work done, although they might not have helped you out it never hurts to try.

try some real GL4, like Redline MTL or MT-90... not garanteed to work but will certainly do better than what you're using

Yeah, i don't know if i would say it was shortly after it was like 3 or 4 months after. When I called them they said that it had a 30 day gaurantee, but there wasn't much they could do after that.

Will try, will try that shifter mod too....

Bleed the slave cylinder and replace it or the clutch master cylinder if either shows signs of leaking. Find out why the clutch dropped before trying to bandaid something else. If you find the clutch problem first, it could very easily fix your grinding problem.

I've always had great luck with BG Syncroshift II synthetic fluid with BG's friction modifier. Like it was previously stated. No guarentees but marginal wear and friction can be worked around with a great fluid like this. Friction modifier is a must though.
